1. On New Year's Day, the annual New Year ceremony was held at the main castle (Honmaru). In the Goza-no-ma (formal audience chamber), Honda Magotarō (Nagazane) along with the senior retainers presented sword catalogs and offered congratulations, received sake cups, and were granted noshi (ceremonial gifts). After the sake cups were presented before His Lordship, in the Dattan-no-ma (Tartar Room), Honda Saheiji (Michishige) presented sword catalogs, offered congratulations, received sake cups, and was granted long abalone.
