●豊橋 渥美郡の北端にて豊川の南岸
に臨む、往昔今橋と唱へ維新前までは吉田と
称せり、吉田城は後柏原天皇永正二年即ち四
百年前今川氏親の臣牧野成時の築きたるもの
にて、其後松平信綱(智恵伊豆)の子孫大河内
氏藩封七万石にて明治の始めまで支配せし城
下なり、明治十八年旧城廓に歩兵第十八聯隊
を置き続いて第十七旅団司令部を設けらる、
目下市制を施行せんと之れが調査中なり
いまはしと云ふ所にて
贈大納言雅世卿
君がためわたす今橋いまよりは
いく万代をかけてみゆらん
いまはしの御泊りにて

●豊橋 渥美郡の北端にあって豊川の南岸に面している。往昔は今橋と呼び、明治維新前までは吉田と称していた。吉田城は後柏原天皇永正二年（1505年）、すなわち四百年前に今川氏親の家臣牧野成時が築いたもので、その後松平信綱（知恵伊豆）の子孫である大河内氏が藩封七万石で明治の始めまで支配した城下町である。明治十八年（1885年）に旧城郭に歩兵第十八連隊を置き、続いて第十七旅団司令部を設けた。現在市制を施行しようとしてその調査中である。

●Toyohashi: Located at the northern end of Atsumi County, facing the south bank of the Toyokawa River. In ancient times it was called Imahashi, and until the Meiji Restoration it was called Yoshida. Yoshida Castle was built four hundred years ago in the second year of Eishō (1505) during Emperor Go-Kashiwabara's reign by Makino Naritoki, a retainer of Imagawa Ujichika. Later, the Ōkōchi clan, descendants of Matsudaira Nobutsuna (Chie-no-Izu), ruled this castle town with a domain of 70,000 koku until the beginning of the Meiji period. In Meiji 18 (1885), the 18th Infantry Regiment was stationed in the former castle grounds, followed by the establishment of the 17th Brigade headquarters. Currently, investigations are underway to implement city status.
