蚕養守護神略縁記
抑（そも〳〵）蚕守護神（かいこしゆごじん）と号（もう）し奉るは延喜式（えんぎしき）に載（のす）る所の雅（わか）
産霊日（むすびの）神 保食神（うけもちのかみ）にして養蚕（こがひ）の祖神（そじん）なれば上（いに）
古（しへ）には当寺地蔵菩薩の側（かたはら）に社を勧請（くわんぜう）し其 掖（わき）に呉（くれ）
服（は）漢服（あやは）の織姫（をりひめ）の像（ざう）を祭りしに永禄年中 社頭（しやとう）破壊（はゑ）
し廃社（はいしや）となりしかば此地蔵尊の堂中に相殿（あいでん）となし
来（きた）りし処に茲年（ことし）如月（きさらぎ）二日の暁方に旅客（りよかく）の老夫（らうふ）来り
て曰むかし此地に蚕養（こがひ）守護神の社ありしか廃（はい）

絶（ぜつ）せしより已来（このかた）星霜（せいさう）を経（ふ）ること久し今 老師（らうし）志（こゝろざし）
あらば元（もと）の如く社壇を築（きづ）き御鎮坐（ごちんざ）あらしめ玉はゞ
蚕養の守護となり国土 豊饒（ふねう）万民 蕃昌（はんじやう）の基（もとひ）たるべし
我等如きの斯（かゝ）ることを申すは嗚呼（おこ）がましとや思（おぼ）すらん
とて去（さり）ぬ是（こ）は抑（そも）不思議（ふしき）の機縁（きゑん）かなとて当院の
古記録本縁記等を鑑（かんが）みるに尽（こと〴〵）く符合（ふがふ）しけるは
是全く守護神の旅客（りよかく）に詑（たく）【注】し宣（のたま）へる霊告（れいかふ）なるべしと
感得（かんとく）せしにより俄に此 業（すぎはひ）を職（しよく）とする人々に語（かたり）あ

蚕養守護神略縁記
そもそも蚕守護神と申し上げるのは、延喜式に記載されている若産霊神（わかむすびのかみ）・保食神（うけもちのかみ）のことで、養蚕の祖神であるため、上古の時代には当寺の地蔵菩薩の側に社を勧請し、その脇に呉服・漢服の織姫の像を祭っていた。ところが永禄年間（1558-1570）に社頭が破壊され廃社となったため、この地蔵尊の堂内に相殿として祭ってきた。そこに今年如月（2月）2日の暁方に、旅の老人がやって来て言うには、「昔この地に蚕養守護神の社があったが廃絶してから長い年月が経っている。今、老師に志があるならば、元のように社壇を築いて御鎮座させていただければ、蚕養の守護となり、国土豊饒・万民繁昌の基となるであろう。我々のような者がこのようなことを申すのは、おこがましいとお思いになるだろうか」と言って去った。

Brief History of the Silkworm-Raising Guardian Deity
The deity honored as the Silkworm Guardian God refers to Wakamusubi-no-kami and Ukemochi-no-kami recorded in the Engishiki (codes and procedures of the Engi era), who are the ancestral deities of sericulture. In ancient times, a shrine was established beside the Jizo Bodhisattva of this temple, with images of weaving maidens in Chinese and Korean-style garments enshrined nearby. However, during the Eiroku period (1558-1570), the shrine buildings were destroyed and it became a ruined shrine, so the deity has been enshrined together with this Jizo statue in the hall. Then, this year on the dawn of the 2nd day of the 2nd month, an elderly traveler came and said: "Long ago there was a shrine to the Silkworm-Raising Guardian Deity in this place, but many years have passed since it fell into ruin. Now, if the venerable priest has the will to rebuild the shrine altar as it was before and enshrine the deity, it will become the guardian of sericulture and the foundation for national prosperity and the flourishing of all people. Do you think it presumptuous for someone like us to speak of such matters?" Then he departed.

Realizing that this was entirely a divine revelation conveyed through the traveler by the guardian deity, we hurriedly began speaking to people whose profession involves this work.
