保輔は先帝冷泉院の位の継承を定めた御遺状を盗み取り、二瀬庄司を殺害した折、兄保昌に譲られた双葉の笛を取り落としたが、日本を引っ繰り返す（政変を起こす）御遺状を手に入れたと女房に物語り、喜ぶ。

When the secret letter of the Left General's wife was discovered and he was captured, Yasusuke emerged from a hollow in a plum tree, stabbed the Left General to death, stole the secret letter, stripped off his court robes, and disguised as a false imperial messenger as requested by Yorichika, infiltrating Hōshō's mansion.
Yasusuke stole the imperial testament that determined the succession of the previous Emperor Reizei, and when he killed the Ninose administrator, he dropped the Futaba flute that had been given to him by his brother Hōshō. Now having obtained the imperial testament that could overturn Japan (cause political upheaval), he tells his wife about it and they rejoice.
