頼光が御病気で、四天王殿がそばに控えて頼光を慰めている。葛城山の土で作った「うねめ」と名付けた土器と、また朝香山という名酒を勧めている折から、蜘蛛が下がってきたのを怪しみ、この土器には毒があると打ち砕こうとする所へ、坂田金時と渡辺綱が引き立って出て、つまぎくが言いまわされ、定光と季武が引き立とうとして御酒宴の相手を取り持つ。
頼光は金札を綱に与え、紛失させた昼の御座の御剣を探し出すべしと命じ、また

金時には先帝の御遺状を探し出し、盗賊の張本である袴垂を詮議するべしと両人を立たせ、女を近づけさせたところ、膝丸の剣がひとりでに抜けたのを怪しむ。
つまぎくは頼光に心をかけた大胆な女で、人々を欺き、頼光の寝所へ付き添って行こうとしたが、膝丸の太刀に恐れをなす。

Yorimitsu is ill, and the Four Heavenly Kings attend to him, comforting him. They offer him earthenware called "uneme" made from soil of Mount Katsuragi and famous sake called Asakayama. When a spider descends, suspecting poison in the earthenware, they attempt to smash it. At that moment, Sakata Kintoki and Watanabe no Tsuna appear prominently, Tsumagiku speaks persuasively, and Sadamitsu and Suetake try to take charge, mediating the sake banquet.
Yorimitsu gives a gold tablet to Tsuna, ordering him to find the lost Hiru-no-omashi sword, and also

Orders Kintoki to find the previous emperor's testament and investigate Hakamadare, the ringleader of the bandits. When both men are dismissed and a woman is brought near, they are startled when the Hizamaru sword unsheathes itself.
Tsumagiku is a bold woman who has set her heart on Yorimitsu. Deceiving everyone, she attempts to accompany Yorimitsu to his sleeping quarters, but becomes frightened by the Hizamaru sword.

The monk was actually the spirit of a giant spider from Mount Katsuragi.】
