熊野本宮湯峰薬王山東光寺の
霊場（れいじやう）に扶桑（ひのした）第一の温泉（ゆ）あり薬師
如来の仏体ハ湯のはなにて自然と
出現なりいにしへハ御 胸（むね）の中より温泉（をんせん）
湧出（わきだ）しなり御 胸（むね）にその痕（あと）あり脇立
日光月光十二神将ハ弘法大師の御作
なり此温泉ハ往古（むかし）小栗判官といふ人
毒（どく）酒に傷（やぶ）られこの温泉に浴（いる）事一ト臘（まハり）にて
篤病（たいびやう）散癒（さつそくいゆ）病後ミづから力を試（ため）さんとて
玉のことき小石を以大石へ心安く圧（おし）入れぬ
それよりこの石を小栗のちから石と
称（いふ）又小栗温泉 浴（いる）の間 藁蘂（わらしべ）にて
髪（かミ）を束（ゆひ）其しべを棄（すて）てし所今に至る
まで毎年自然と稲（いね）を生す是を不播（まかず）
の稲（いね）と号（なづ）く湯のみミねより北の方三丁
ばかり道のほとりにありい今まかず
の稲とちから石を図（ず）して諸人に
示（しめ）すものなり

現代語訳

熊野本宮湯峰の薬王山東光寺の霊場に、日本第一の温泉があります。薬師如来の仏体は湯の花によって自然と出現したものです。昔は御胸の中から温泉が湧き出していたため、御胸にその痕跡があります。脇立の日光菩薩・月光菩薩と十二神将は弘法大師の御作です。

この温泉については、昔、小栗判官という人が毒酒によって傷つけられ、この温泉に入浴すること一年間で重い病気が完全に治ったという話があります。病気が治った後、自分で力を試そうとして、玉のような小石を使って大石に容易く押し入れました。それ以来、この石を「小栗の力石」と呼んでいます。

また、小栗が温泉に入浴している間、藁で髪を束ね、その藁を捨てた所に、今に至るまで毎年自然と稲が生えます。これを「蒔かずの稲」と呼んでいます。湯峰から北の方へ三丁ほどの道端にあります。今、蒔かずの稲と力石を図に描いて、多くの人に示すものです。

At the sacred site of Yakuōzan Tōkōji Temple in Kumano Hongū Yunomine, there is Japan's premier hot spring. The Buddhist statue of Yakushi Nyorai (Medicine Buddha) naturally appeared through hot spring deposits. In ancient times, hot spring water gushed forth from the Buddha's chest, and traces of this can still be seen on the chest. The attendant bodhisattvas Nikkō and Gakkō, along with the Twelve Divine Generals, are works created by Kōbō Daishi (Kūkai).

Regarding this hot spring, there is a tale from long ago about a man named Oguri Hangan who was harmed by poisoned sake. After bathing in this hot spring for one full year, his serious illness was completely cured. After his recovery, wanting to test his own strength, he easily pressed small, jewel-like stones into large rocks. Since then, this stone has been called "Oguri's Power Stone."

Also, while Oguri was bathing in the hot spring, he bound his hair with straw and discarded the straw in a certain place. To this day, rice naturally grows there every year without being planted. This is called "the rice that grows without sowing." It is located about three chō north of Yunomine, beside the road. We now present illustrations of both the rice that grows without sowing and the power stone to show to all people.
