The sutra says: "Dwelling in the final body." The interpretation says: The extent of dwelling in body. Dwelling in fragmented birth and death, this is the final body. Upon reaching the eighth ground, it immediately becomes transformational.
The sutra says: "All immeasurable meritorious practices are accomplished, birthless knowledge, exhaustion knowledge, and the five-part dharma body are all fulfilled." The interpretation says: Manifesting the possession of all virtues. This should be understood according to the above.
The sutra says: "Dwelling in the tenth ground arhat Brahma heaven position." The interpretation says: Brahma means pure. Because one dwells in the position of pure practice. "Ten grounds" means the three worthy stages and seven noble stages constitute the ten grounds. Regarding "Brahma heaven," Master Zang says this is the Brahma king of the first dhyāna. Master Jing says: first, unmoving; second, unstained; third, fulfilled. Possessing these three virtues is called the Brahma heaven position.
The sutra says: "Always practicing the three emptiness gate contemplations and hundreds of thousands of samādhis, fully accomplished in propagating and transforming the dharma treasury." The interpretation says: Distinguishing the contemplations. In this ground, the knowing wisdom and concentrations are fulfilled, using the Tathāgata's teaching to propagate and transform sentient beings. "Always practicing, etc." refers to what is cultivated. "Hundreds of thousands, etc." refers to the fulfillment of concentration. "Propagating and transforming, etc." refers to gathering beings through teaching.
The sutra says: "Furthermore, Equal-Awakening Patience Person." The interpretation says: The eleventh dharma teacher. "Person" refers to a conventional person, namely the eighth ground. Contemplating both conventional and ultimate truth, called "Equal-Awakening Person."
The sutra says: "Dwelling in supreme patience." The interpretation says: The textual divisions can be understood. Speaking of "dwelling in birthless patience"—among the three grades, this is the middle-grade patience.
The sutra says: "Contemplating mind-moments as extinct yet having signless signs, bodiless bodies, unknowing knowing." The interpretation says: Distinguishing existence-nonexistence

contemplation. The textual meaning can be understood. "Mind-moments extinct" means each moment is empty, therefore manifesting the meaning of constant extinction. "Signless signs, etc." manifests the meaning of constant function. First extinct yet always functioning, later functioning yet always extinct. Being constantly extinct, one separates from all signs, yet depending on the conventional, one manifests signlessness. Being constantly empty and extinct, there is no form body, yet depending on the conventional, one always uses the form body. Through constant extinction there is no knowing, yet depending on the conventional, one can always illuminate and know. "Unknowing" refers to inner realization wisdom. "Knowing" refers to subsequently attained wisdom.
The sutra says: "Yet using mind to ride upon the directions of all directions, tranquil and dwelling in the dwelling of non-dwelling." The interpretation says: Bright yet constantly extinct. "Yet using mind, etc." manifests having function. "Tranquil, etc." manifests the meaning of constant extinction.
The sutra says: "While in existence always cultivating emptiness, dwelling in emptiness yet always manifesting myriad transformations." The interpretation says: Combined explanation of existence and nonexistence. "While in existence always cultivating emptiness" explains the above "functioning yet constantly extinct." "Dwelling in emptiness yet always manifesting myriad transformations" explains the above "extinct yet constantly functioning."
The sutra says: "Therefore illuminating all dharmas in both ways." The interpretation says: Concluding together. Namely, the conventional does not separate from the ultimate, therefore extinct yet constantly functioning. The ultimate does not separate from the conventional, therefore functioning yet constantly extinct.
The sutra says: "Knowing appropriate and inappropriate conditions up to all-knowledge ten powers contemplation." The interpretation says: In this stage, one studies the ten powers contemplation. Raising the first and last one to manifest the middle eight.
The sutra says: "Able to ascend to the mahārāga position and transform all lands and sentient beings." The interpretation says: The distinctions of ascending to stages.

Some texts lack the character "ascend." "Mahārāga position" is called "great minister"—namely, the great general of the Buddha dharma. Some say "effortless function." Some say "great power." Some say "dragon-elephant."
The sutra says: "For a thousand incalculable eons practicing the ten powers dharma, mind corresponding with mind, always entering the samādhi of seeing Buddha." The interpretation says: The time period of cultivation. This can be understood as written.
The sutra says: "Furthermore, Wisdom-Light Divine-Transformation Person." The interpretation says: Distinguishing the twelfth dharma teacher. The textual divisions can be understood. Namely, the ninth ground. Through the four unobstructed wisdoms transforming all sentient beings, or arousing the six supernatural powers, called "Wisdom-Light and Divine-Transformation Person."
The sutra says: "Dwelling in supreme-supreme birthless patience." The interpretation says: Distinguishing contemplation differences. This is the superior grade. Speaking of "supreme-supreme"—the first "supreme" is the ultimate meaning, the latter "supreme" accords with grade numbers. At this ninth ground one attains the four eloquences, etc., therefore called "supreme."
The sutra says: "Extinguishing mind-moment characteristics." The interpretation says: Clarifying the extinction of mind characteristics. Extinguishing mind's intrinsic nature is called "extinguishing mind." If extinguishing the discriminations upon mind, this is called "extinguishing mind characteristics."
The sutra says: "The dharma eye sees all dharmas; the three eyes see form and emptiness." The interpretation says: The four eye contemplation gates. Namely, the dharma eye sees the various distinct characteristics of dharmas as medicine and illness, etc. "The three eyes seeing form and emptiness"—the flesh eye sees coarse forms, the divine eye sees coarse and subtle, the wisdom eye sees form and emptiness. Speaking of reality, the wisdom eye contemplates the emptiness of all dharmas. Now, in contrast to the flesh and divine eyes, it only speaks of seeing form and emptiness. According to the original record: the dharma eye sees the thusness of all dharmas.

The sutra says: "Through great vow power always being born in all pure lands." The interpretation says: This can be understood as written.
The sutra says: "During ten thousand incalculable eons gathering immeasurable Buddha-light samādhi, able to manifest the spiritual powers of ten thousand times ten thousand Ganges-sand Buddhas, dwelling in the Bhagavat position, also always entering the Buddha-flower samādhi." The interpretation says: The time period of entering the stage. "Bhagavat" is called "World-Honored One, etc." Because of possessing all virtues. This is the ninth ground, called "World-Honored One." Because it resembles Buddha's concentration, it is called "Buddha-flower concentration."
The sutra says: "Furthermore, Buddha-Contemplating Bodhisattva." The interpretation says: Distinguishing the thirteenth dharma teacher. The textual divisions can be understood. "Buddha-contemplating" briefly has two types: first, eye-seeing—only other-enjoyment; second, concentrated mind seeing—universally contemplating the three bodies.
The sutra says: "Those dwelling in extinction patience, from initial arousal of mind until now, passing through a million incalculable eons cultivating the merit of a million incalculable eons, therefore ascending to all-dharma liberation and dwelling on the vajra platform." The interpretation says: The time period of ascending and dwelling. The textual divisions follow the previous. "Dwelling in extinction" means among the upper and lower two grades of this patience, now the tenth ground is encompassed by the lower grade. "From the beginning, etc." means generally from the habit-nature stage up to the consecration stage, passing through such eons. "Cultivating a hundred, etc." distinguishes the time and virtue of cultivation. "Ascending to all, etc." refers to the stage to be attained, namely the wonderful awakening stage. "Dwelling on vajra, etc."—vajra samādhi is the equal-awakening stage. Although not encompassed by the wonderful awakening liberation fruit, because it accomplishes equal-awakening liberation, it is called "ascending to all liberations."
The sutra says: "Good son, from habit patience to summit samādhi, all are called subduing all afflictions." The interpretation says:
