先般、官の許可を得て、志を同じくする十数名とともに浅草
森田街に病院を設立し、如春と名付けた。栗園浅田先生を院長として
迎えた。年間の治療患者数は数千人を下らず、そのうち死亡した者は
十数人を超えない程度であった。これは民衆にとって大きな幸いであり、
実に我々の期待に応えるものであった。近世においてコレラと呼ばれる
一種の疫病があり、連年流行し、これによって死亡する者の数は
計り知れない。その発症は驟雨のように急激で、前兆もなく、その死は
電光のように速く、一瞬の間もない。そのため医師たちは慌てふためき
狼狽し、どう対処すべきか分からない状況である。ましてや一般の
病家の人々にとってはなおさらである。先生はこれを深く嘆き、
治塩編、暴瀉須知等の書を著し、既に世に刊行した。昨年また
コレラ考一編を著した。

Previously, having received official permission, together with more than ten like-minded individuals, we established a hospital on Morita Street in Asakusa, naming it Nyoshun. We invited Master Asada of Kurion to serve as director. The number of patients treated annually was no less than several thousand, and among these, those who died numbered only slightly more than ten. This was truly a great blessing for the common people and indeed fulfilled our expectations. In recent times, there has been a type of epidemic disease called "tiger-wolf dysentery" (cholera), which has been spreading year after year, and the number of deaths caused by it is incalculable. Its onset is as sudden as a downpour, without any prior warning, and death comes as quickly as lightning, not allowing even a moment's time. Therefore, physicians are thrown into panic and confusion, not knowing how to respond. How much more so for ordinary families dealing with the disease. The master deeply lamented this situation and thus wrote books such as "Chien-hen" and "Essential Knowledge of Violent Diarrhea," which have already been published. Last year, he also wrote "A Study of Tiger-wolf Dysentery."
