となり家督を続事身の幸尠な
からす爰におゐて猶更家中およひ
領内の政務に昼夜心を用ひ家とく
のはれ事を希ふといへとも元より届
さる事も有へき歟大法に背さる儀は
曲て宥免を加ふへきなり然とも代々
定置處の令條に障へき不覚悟のもの
有之は其非を糺へし今度改て家法の
条々沙汰に及はさる間寛保二年正月
定置之趣家中一統尚又令承知堅く相守
益謹慎を旨とし水能舩をうかふの譬に
ならひ上下和融し忠勤を励へきもの也

現代語訳
私は余子でありながら、図らずも継嗣となり家督を相続することになった。これは身の幸せというほかない。ここにおいて、なお一層家中および領内の政務に昼夜心を用い、家の徳が輝くことを願っているが、もとより行き届かないこともあるだろう。大きな法に背かない事柄については、寛大に許免を加えるつもりである。しかしながら、代々定め置いた法令に違反する不心得者がいる場合は、その非を正さなければならない。今度改めて家法の条々について沙汰するまでもないが、寛保二年正月に定め置いた趣旨を家中一同がなお一層承知し、堅くこれを守り、ますます謹慎を旨とし、水によく船を浮かべるという譬えに習い、上下が和融し忠勤に励むべきものである。

Though I am a younger son, I have unexpectedly become the heir and succeeded to the headship of the house. This is no small fortune for me. In this position, I shall devote myself day and night even more to the administrative affairs of the household retainers and the domain, hoping that the virtue of our house will shine forth. However, there may naturally be matters where I fall short. For matters that do not violate the great law, I shall grant lenient pardons. Nevertheless, should there be any thoughtless individuals who violate the regulations established by previous generations, their wrongdoings must be corrected. This time, without going into details about each article of the house laws, I expect all retainers to further understand and firmly observe the principles established in the first month of Kanpō 2, to make prudence their guiding principle even more, and following the metaphor of a boat floating well on water, to achieve harmony between high and low ranks and to encourage loyal service.
