一古来ゟ美談奇談怪談滑稽之雑話等
数多あるも従来先輩之英述に譲りて今
爰に不言追々編纂之次第により温故知
新之趣意に基き出すへき趣向なり依て
追録之仕様見比之ため聊書出せり希は

永代末々迄書継あらん事を

雑話の部
一 古来より美談・奇談・怪談・滑稽の雑話等は数多くあるが、従来の先輩の優れた記述に譲って、今ここには記さない。追々編纂の次第により、温故知新の趣意に基づいて出すべき趣向である。よって追録の仕様を見比べるため、少し書き出してみた。願わくは今後年代の順序にこだわらず、できる限り類聚して、永代末々まで書き継がれることを。

Section of Miscellaneous Stories
1. Since ancient times, there have been numerous miscellaneous tales of inspiring stories, strange tales, ghost stories, and humorous anecdotes. However, I defer to the excellent writings of my predecessors and will not record them here now. As the compilation proceeds, it is my intention to present them based on the principle of "learning from the past to understand the present" (onko chishin). Therefore, I have written out a few examples to compare different methods of supplementary recording. My hope is that in the future, without being bound by chronological order, these stories will be collected by category as much as possible and continued to be recorded for generations to come.
