爰（こヽ）に弘化四年三月廿四日夜四ツ時
此より信州（しんしう）大 地震（じしん）にて善光寺（せうくわうじ）をはじめ
川 中島（なかじま） 辺（へん）より丹波島（たんばじま） 渡（わた）し同く小市の
川むかふなる山々川中へゆりくづれ川水をせき
とめ人家へ溢（あふ）れ出し田 畑（ばた）の損（そん）じ少からずたゞ善光寺御堂
のみ破却（はきやく）に及ず扨 越後路（ゑちごじ）の方は柏原関（かしははらせき）川越後高田
辺又上州口之方は追（おひ）分 沓掛（くつかけ）軽（かる）井 沢（ざは） 小諸（こもろ） 飯（いヽ）山辺殊に
はげしく南は会（あい）田辺より松下松 代（しろ）上田近辺は筑摩（ちくま）
川を押埋（おしうめ） 洪（かう）水一時にをし出し人馬の泣（なき）さけぶ声目も当てら
れぬばかりなり扨 翌（あす）六ツ時 漸（やうや）く 治（をさま）り人々 安堵（あんど）しけることなり

〽さては観音信州地震開帳
人揺り身揺りゆり 内はぶらぶら
揺れでまいりましょうじゃんじゃん
じゃけん（邪見）の善光寺婆様に地震
が潰されたかはは笑えて 土手作っても仕方が
変えてまいりましょう
ここに弘化四年三月二十四日夜四つ時、
この信州大地震によって善光寺をはじめ
川中島辺りから丹波島の渡し同様に小市の
川向こうにある山々が川中へ揺り崩れ、川の水をせき
止め、人家へ溢れ出し、田畑の損害は少なからず。ただ善光寺の御堂
のみ破却には及ばなかった。さて越後路の方は柏原関川、越後高田
辺り、また上州口の方は追分、沓掛、軽井沢、小諸、飯山辺りが特に
激しく、南は会田辺りから松代、上田近辺では筑摩
川を押し埋め、洪水が一時に押し出し、人馬の泣き叫ぶ声は目も当てら
れないばかりであった。さて翌朝六つ時、ようやく治まり、人々が安堵したことであった。

Let's change and go
Here, on the night of March 24th, Kōka 4 (1847), at the fourth hour,
this great earthquake in Shinshū province caused Zenkō-ji temple and the surrounding areas,
from Kawanakajima to Tanbashima ferry, as well as Koichi's
mountains across the river to crumble into the river with the shaking, damming up
the river water, which overflowed into people's houses, causing no small damage to rice fields and farmland. However, only the main hall of Zenkō-ji temple
was not destroyed. Now, toward Echigo province, around Kashiwahara Sekigawa and Echigo Takada,
and toward the Jōshū entrance, Oiwake, Kutsukake, Karuizawa, Komoro, and the Iiyama area were particularly
severe. To the south, from around Aida to Matsushiro and the Ueda vicinity, the Chikuma
River was blocked up, and floods suddenly rushed out. The cries and screams of people and horses were
almost unbearable to witness. Then, the next morning at the sixth hour, things finally settled down, and people felt relieved.
