入道は首の隠し方に困り、志賀靴と案字を付け、背むし大尽に小尻を付け奉る御奉膳としゃれて、大通に花魁を上げ、その上、意気で質かに包んで焼餅深く、花魁が色男のところへ行くを、凛気尽くめの寝屋の戸から首ばかりそっと付けて行く。このような時は化粧の助を借りかます［？］には、やはり型が良いということなり。
禿は煙草のこの火をいつけに聞かかり、「親主、お首が荒っしゃらねえよ」と大騒ぎに騒ぎ出しける。
煤掃きに天守［？］と取って打っちゃっておくと、また花魁に叱られすよ。

Portable Shrine
The priest was troubled about how to hide his neck, so he attached Shiga boots and placards, and offered his buttocks to a hunchbacked wealthy patron as a ceremonious meal tray, jokingly. He elevated a courtesan as an iki (sophisticated) man, and moreover, wrapped himself elegantly in refinement. Being deeply jealous, when the courtesan went to her lover's place, he would secretly stick out only his head from the door of the bedroom full of dignity. At such times, it is said that borrowing the help of makeup is indeed the proper way.
A kamuro (young attendant) came to light tobacco from this fire, crying out in great commotion, "Master, your head is acting up again!"
If you take the chimney sweep's pole and just leave it there after hitting with it, you'll be scolded by the courtesan again.
