現代語訳

武州の東にあたって化け物の住む山がある。この山の主は馬の頭のような化け物である。しかるに仲間より告発の訴状をもって御輿担ぎを尋ね、見当たり次第その子へ寄り合わんとのことゆえ、近辺の心安き化け物を呼び集めて相談していた。

「ずいぶん気をつけましょう。水の内は節句者が受け合いじゃ。」

「わしはめったに人家の屋根へ明かりのそいて見ましょう。人間の景色より日和になるとうれしかるであろう。」

英語訳

To the east of Musashi Province, there is a mountain where monsters dwell. The master of this mountain is a monster with a horse-like head. However, since his companions had brought accusations against him in a petition, seeking to find those who carry portable shrines, and intending to assemble with his offspring as soon as they are found, he gathered nearby friendly monsters for consultation.

"We must be very careful. During the water period, the festival participants will take responsibility."
