Au sortir d'un terrier deux chiens aux pieds agile
L'étranglèrent du premier bond.
Le trop d'expédients peut gâter une affaire:
On perd du temps au choix, on tente, on veut tout faire.
N'en ayons qu'un, mais qu'il soit bon.

猟犬の群れが騒ぎを静めた。
猫は狐に言った：「友よ、お前の袋を探ってみろ。
その狡猾な頭で考えて
確実な策略を見つけよ。私にはこれがある。」
こう言うと、猫は見事に木に登った。
一方狐は百の無駄な策を試し、
百の穴に入り、百度も出し抜こうとしたが
ブリフォーの仲間たち全てを
至る所で隠れ場所を求めたが、
どこでも成功しなかった。
煙がそれを防ぎ、バセット犬たちも同様だった。
ある穴から出た時、足の速い二匹の犬が
最初の跳躍で狐を絞め殺した。
策略が多すぎると事を損なうことがある。
選択に時間を費やし、あれこれ試し、全てをやろうとする。
一つだけ持とう、しかしそれを良いものに。

A pack of hounds settled the quarrel.
