[金銭花（きんせんか）《割書：《割書：また》金盞花（きんさんか）｜ともいう》]
花の形は菊のようで、一重あり八重あり千重あり。花は中頃に咲いて開かず、直ぐに咲く。葉は九曜草に似ている。花は四季にあり、色は赤・黄・丹色・葉色・黄青色で浅い。長さは一尺ほど。八九月の頃より咲き、春三月が盛りである。この金盞花・金銭花というのも漢名である。八集画譜草木の譜に言うには、金銭花は俗にいう名で、金盞花とはこのような杯に似ているから言うのである。金銭花とは午時花のことである。金銭花を午時というのは午の時刻に咲く故である。赤いものを子午花といい、黄色いものを金銭花という。また金盞花の本名は萵苣花《割書：また》金盞草《割書：また》長春菊という。

春に種より生じ、形は茄子の苗のようで、段々と枝が出て、葉も茄子のようである。故に異名で山茄子ともいう。秋に花が咲き、色は白、大輪。花形は朝顔のようで逞しく異形であるので、俗に唐人笛という。最もその形である。花壇に植えて朝鮮朝顔という。朝に開き夕にしぼむ。○時珍が言うには、曼陀羅花は人家に春苗を生じ、夏長ずる。独茎直ちに上り、高さ四五尺。葉も茎も茄子のよう。八月白花開き九月まである。葉は朝顔の花のように大きい。朝に開き夕に合すという。木も茎も黒紅色。実は丸く針がある。

The flower shape is like a chrysanthemum, with single, double, and thousand-petaled varieties. The flowers bloom in mid-season and open immediately without delay. The leaves resemble nine-star grass. Flowers bloom in all four seasons, with colors of red, yellow, vermillion, leaf-color, and yellow-blue that are light. Length is about one shaku. They bloom from around August-September, with peak flowering in spring March. These names Golden Cup Flower and Golden Coin Flower are also Chinese names. According to the Eight Collections Painting Manual's Plant Compendium, Golden Coin Flower is a colloquial name, while Golden Cup Flower is so called because it resembles such a cup. Golden Coin Flower refers to the noon-time flower. Golden Coin Flower is called "noon-time" because it blooms at the hour of the horse (noon). Red ones are called child-noon flowers, yellow ones are called golden coin flowers. Also, the original name of Golden Cup Flower is lettuce flower 《marginal note: also》 golden cup grass 《marginal note: also》 eternal spring chrysanthemum.

Grows from seed in spring, shaped like eggplant seedlings, with branches emerging in stages, leaves also like eggplant. Therefore, its alternate name is mountain eggplant. Flowers bloom in autumn, white colored, large blooms. Flower shape is like morning glory but robust and strangely formed, so commonly called "foreign flute." Most aptly named for its shape. Planted in flower beds and called Korean morning glory. Opens in morning and closes in evening. ○ Shizhen says: Mandala flower grows seedlings in spring in human dwellings, grows tall in summer. Single stem rises straight, height four to five shaku. Leaves and stem like eggplant. White flowers open in August, lasting until September. Leaves are large like morning glory flowers. Opens in morning and closes in evening. Both wood and stem are black-red. Fruit is round with thorns.

Leaf shape resembles chrysanthemum leaves but with shallow cuts and hard texture. Flowers also like chrysanthemums, purple-red colored. Double and single blooms, also white flowers exist. Both flowers and leaves are the same. Also called Kaga chrysanthemum. True chrysanthemums have veined petals, but this chrysanthemum has petals without veins. Like peonies, flowers open with stamens surrounding the fruit center. Like single poppies with poppy heads.
