[宮城野萩（みやぎのはぎ）]七八月に花が咲く。花の色は白、紫、薄色、まだら色がある。
花は長く垂れ下がり、姫藤のように咲く。また花に黄色もあるが、これは白の裏返しである。また山萩も花に白、紫、薄色がある。宮城野は長さ一丈ほど、また山萩は六尺ほどである。

[朝顔（あさがお）]
花は四五月より七八月まで咲く。花の形は昼顔に似て葉は三角である。
花は数多く三四十はなる。瑠璃紺色、白、薄赤、浅黄色があり、またまだら、絞りもある。また朝鮮朝顔は花が瑠璃色で、種を蒔いて生えて葉が二つ出れば花が咲く。ちゃぼ朝顔ともいう。また水朝顔ともいう山草である。本名は牽牛である。

[昼顔]花は四五月に咲く。色は薄赤く、また白もあり雪白で大輪がある。
朝顔は朝に花が盛りであるが、昼顔は終日花が咲いている。南京昼顔は色が桜色で小輪である。葉は蕎麦のようで、花は朝顔に似て少し小輪である。野山原に蔓を生やす。

[夕顔（ゆうがお）]花は六七月に咲く。花形は朝顔のようで、葉は大きく丸い。花の色は白い。本名は瓠。また瓢夕顔ともいう。これも同じく花は白い。両品ともに花は夕方に咲く。千成ともいう。瓢は小さく畑作物である。

葉は厚く薄い毛がある。草丈は太く、花の形は一重の菊のようで薄紫色の花が葉の付け根に咲く。また白花もある。名前の由来は毛氈を敷いたようで柔らかく四季に葉がある。まただるま草とも布袋菊とも薩摩菊ともいう。八月より九月まで咲く山谷の草である。

[竜胆（りんどう）《七月より八月まで》]花の形は直立して咲く。葉は笹葉である。
花の色は白、薄紅、紫、瑠璃の四品がある。山中野原にある。

[菝葜（ばっかつ）]
荊の類である。葉は丸く柿の葉の小さいようで、葉の中筋が五つある。冬に葉を落とし春に出る。秋に赤い実がある。俗にサンキライともいう。またサルトリイバラとも言うが、それは違う。サルトリイバラは葉の形が槐の葉のようで、花の色は鬱金色である。丈は一二尺ばかり伸び張りがある。またカメイバラともいう。川岸山中谷間にあり、また野薔薇、笹竜胆と一緒にある。五月に花が咲き、九十月に赤い実がある。

There are many flowers, numbering thirty to forty. Colors include lapis lazuli, white, light red, and pale yellow, with mottled and絞り patterns as well. Korean morning glory has lapis lazuli-colored flowers; when seeds are sown and grown, flowers bloom once two leaves emerge. Also called dwarf morning glory or water morning glory, it is a mountain plant. The original name is Kengo (morning glory).

[Bindweed] Flowers bloom in April and May. The color is light red, and there are also white varieties with snow-white large blooms.
Morning glories are at their peak in the morning, but bindweed flowers bloom all day long. Nanking bindweed has cherry-colored small blooms. The leaves are like buckwheat, and the flowers resemble morning glories but are slightly smaller. It grows vines in fields and mountains.

The leaves are thick with fine hair. The plant stem is thick, and the flower shape is like single chrysanthemums with light purple flowers blooming at the leaf bases. There are also white flowers. The name derives from being soft like spread felt, with leaves present in all seasons. Also called Daruma grass, Hotei chrysanthemum, or Satsuma chrysanthemum. Blooms from August to September; a mountain valley plant.

[Smilax (Bakkatsu)]

Commonly called Sankiraï. Also called Sarutori-ibara, but that is incorrect. Sarutori-ibara has leaves shaped like Japanese pagoda tree leaves, with turmeric-colored flowers. It grows one to two shaku tall with spreading growth. Also called Kame-ibara. Found along riverbanks, in mountains and valleys, together with wild roses and bamboo grass gentian. Flowers bloom in May, with red berries in September and October.
