[丘河骨（おかこうほね）]
花は立河骨に似ており、色は黄色で少し赤みがある。花の茎は長く、枝がある。葉立ちは椿に似ているが、丸い切れ込みがあり艶がある。軸根の根元に赤みがあり、また枝の根元に袋状の葉がある。四月から五月まで咲く。

[鳳仙花（ほうせんか）]
花の形は鳥が羽を広げたような形をしている。色は赤く、大紅、大白があり、桃色、紫色もある。また絞り模様や飛び入り模様もある。葉の形はまた桃の葉に似て長い。木立には大小があり、高さは三、四尺ほどのものもあれば、一、二尺、四、五寸のものもある。枝があるものもあれば、ないものもある。三月からまた八、九月まで咲く。山里に生える。本名は金鳳花という。また俗に骨抜き草という。

[紅花（こうか）]
葉の色は薄緑色で、花台、茎ともに薄い色をしている。四、五月に紅色の花がある。葉は薊に似ているが、切れ込みはなく、針があり密生している。葉に刺がある。

葉の形は竹柏に似て艶がある。茎を巻いて出てくる。また葉が葵に似ているものを水葵という。花茎が立ち、六弁の花が連なって咲く。薄色、白、紫の三種類がある。桔梗のような花で、花の先に色がある。瑠璃色で藤桔梗に似て小さく、花弁の切れ込みが深い。花は次々と咲く。六、七、八月にある。

葉は笹の葉に似て細く、茎を巻いて出てくる。花は雪のように白く、小鳥が飛ぶ形のようで、あるいは鷺が飛ぶ形に似ている。沢のほとりにあり、水草である。七、八月にある。

[Hill Spatterdock (Oka-kōhone)]
The flower resembles standing spatterdock, with yellow color and slight reddish tinge. The flower stem is long with branches. The leaf arrangement resembles camellia but has round indentations and is glossy. There is reddish coloring at the base of the main root, and there are bag-like leaves at the base of branches. It blooms from April to May.

[Garden Balsam (Hōsenka)]
The flower shape resembles a bird spreading its wings. The color is red, with varieties in deep red and pure white, as well as peach and purple colors. There are also striped and speckled varieties. The leaf shape also resembles peach leaves and is long. The plant comes in various sizes, with heights ranging from three to four shaku, or one to two shaku, or four to five sun. Some have branches while others do not. It blooms from March and also from August to September. It grows in mountain villages. Its proper name is Golden Phoenix Flower (Kinpōka). It is also commonly called "bone-pulling grass."

[Safflower (Kōka)]
The leaf color is light green, and both the receptacle and stem are light colored. It has red flowers in April and May. The leaves resemble thistle but without indentations, having thorns and growing densely. The leaves have spines.

The leaf shape resembles podocarpus and is glossy. It emerges wrapping around the stem. Those with leaves resembling hollyhock are called water plantain. The flower stems stand upright with six-petaled flowers blooming in succession. There are three varieties: light colored, white, and purple. Like bellflowers, the flower tips are colored. They are lapis lazuli blue, resembling small wisteria bellflowers with deeply cut petals. The flowers bloom successively. They appear in June, July, and August.
