　　　石南（しやくなき）　風藥　本綱曰石南は生山石の間の向陽之處に故名く

現代語訳

『本草綱目』に曰く
石南（しゃくなん）　風薬　本綱に曰く、石南は山の石の間の向陽の処に生ずるが故にこの名がある

和名は「とひらのき」
俗に「さくなむさ」と云う

今「扉木」と云うのは、これとは違う別種である。同名の石楠花には四、五種あり、花は紅、碧、白、黄、紫色である。
○石南の一種で「紅更抄」と云うものがある

英語訳

The "Bencao Gangmu" (Compendium of Materia Medica) states:
Shokunan (Pieris japonica) - Wind medicine. The main text states that Shokunan grows between mountain rocks in sunny places, hence its name.

Japanese name: "tohiranoki"
Commonly called "sakunamusa"

What is now called "tobiranoki" is a different species. There are four or five types of rhododendron with the same name, with flowers in red, blue, white, yellow, and purple colors.
○There is one type of Shokunan called "Kōkōshō"
