『救荒本草』より
　　　匙頭菜（ひとうさい）　センボンヤリ　　私が言うには、匙頭菜は春と秋の二季に花茎を出す。
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　春には図のような花が開き、秋にはその
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　つぼみが開こうとして開かず、その茎は数十本
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　あって槍に似ており、そのようすから千本槍という。

　　　Spoon-head Vegetable (Hitouzai)　　Senbon-yari　　I say that the spoon-head vegetable sends up flower stems in two seasons, spring and autumn.
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　In spring, flowers like those in the illustration bloom; in autumn, those
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　buds attempt to open but do not open. The stems number several dozen
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　and resemble spears, hence the name "thousand spears."
