として逃げ去らず、いよいよ丸散を加倍して攻め討てども、その効果のない国もある。
世医の論ずるところは、口中が腫れて痛み、よだれが出るのは梅毒が骨髄に隠れ
伏したものが、軽粉剤や嗅薬に追い立てられ、骨より逃げる道筋がなく、
歯は骨より生えるものなので、歯根よりよだれに付いて抜け出るのだと
言う。しかるによだれが出ても梅毒賊が退かず、あるいはよだれが出でても梅毒賊が退き、
一様でないのはいかなる道理か。また五宝丹、鶏鹿散、鶏汁煎山、
帰来剤、嗅薬、軽粉剤、生々乳、そっぴるどろしすかるめら剤等
を用いて十のもの八つまで治し、今一つになりて治せず、前方を以て数日
合戦に及ぶうちに次第に後戻りして治せざるはいかなる故か。願わくは
その高論を聞かんと温和の尋ねにこちらも会釈し、足下の問いは最も
肝要のことなり。凡そ人体国の強弱、病賊の軽重にかかわらず、薬瞑

眩の不同があるのは、その国々の生質による。薬の瞑眩は酒に准じて知るべし。
一分の軽粉を服して大いに瞑眩する者は、酒一合を飲んで大いに酔いを
発するがごとし。軽粉二匁を用いて口中痛まざる者は、酒二升を飲んで
も酔わざるがごとし。また軽粉の類を用ゆるに大いに瞑眩する時と、また瞑眩
の少なき時あり。これも酒を飲む人のよく酔う時と、また酔わざる時があるがごとし。あるいは
劇剤を用ゆるに初めは大いに瞑眩し、続いて数日用ゆるうちに次第に
瞑眩せざる様になる者あり。これも下戸の酒を飲むに従い上
戸になるがごとし。また必ず口中爛傷してよだれを吐かざれば梅毒賊去らずと
言うにあらず。口中腐爛して臭きよだれを吐くは、薬毒の抜け出づる
にて梅毒の抜けるにあらず。この故によだれ出づるとも梅毒治せざる者
あり。よだれ出でざれども梅毒治する者あり。凡そ梅毒賊徒はいずれより

A person who experiences great side effects from taking one bu of mercury is like one who becomes greatly intoxicated
from drinking one go of sake. A person who feels no pain in the mouth from using two monme of mercury is like one who does not get
drunk even from drinking two sho of sake. Also, when using mercury-type medicines, there are times of great side effects and times
of few side effects. This is like how a person drinking sake sometimes gets very drunk and sometimes does not get drunk. Sometimes
when using strong medicines, at first there are great side effects, but after continued use for several days, gradually
some people stop experiencing side effects. This is like how a poor drinker gradually becomes a good
drinker through drinking sake. Also, it is not true that syphilis bandits will not leave unless the mouth necessarily ulcerates and saliva is vomited.
