一説によると、蚕の神を祭ることについて、日本の古代を考えると、軻遇突智（かぐつち）が埴山姫（はにやまひめ）と交わってわかむすび（若産巣日神）を産んだ。この神の柱に蚕を桑とともに生んだと神代の巻に見えているので、本朝（日本）ではわかむすびを祭るべきものか。また人皇第二十代雄略天皇の御后が自ら

蚕飼いをなされたことが日本記に見えている。唐土（中国）では黄帝の后である西王母を始祖とすることが通鑑という書物に出ている。繰り返すが、これを粗末にすることがあってはならないものである。

けれども柔らかで貫目がなく糸目が不足である。度々蚕の尻を取って糸が立たないということなく、すべて夜中は引かず、朝五つ時（午前8時頃）から暮れ方まで引くものである。なお詳しくは養蚕章に詳しく書かれている。すべて絹布の類はみな蚕からできるもので、これは
