も非常に心配しており、真偽のほどを確かめるべきと考え、同村の百姓倉田五郎、宮田権六の両名を見届け役として差し出したところ、完全に焼けている様子なので届け出るべきと考え、役人たちが評議している最中に巡村のため越してきたので訴え出ました。そこで見分のため出向くことになり、道案内を一人差し出すよう伝えたところ、元戸長副の新井伊一郎、百姓代の千明新平、組小役の八五郎、百姓の倉田権六が、村内一同が非常に心配しているので同道して見届けたいと申し出ましたので、もっともなことと思い連れて行き、詳しく見分いたしました。その結果、完全に別紙の粗絵図面の通り、山の西南中腹、縦横百五十間余りの場所の石の間から煙が吹き出し、完全に硫黄の気で焼けていることが確認されましたので、その石のかけらを添えてこの件を申し

当管下上野国利根郡東小川村地内荒山西面山腹より硫黄気が燃え立っている件について、別紙の通り図面並びに焼け場の石とも添えて届け出がありましたので、直ちに官員を指遣して見分させたところ、右の届け出の通り相違ありませんでしたので、この度お届けいたします。

Regarding the matter of sulfurous gases burning on the western slope of Mount Arayama within the territory of Higashi-Ogawa Village, Tone District, Kōzuke Province under our jurisdiction, a report was submitted with attached maps and stones from the burned area as shown in the separate document. We immediately dispatched officials for inspection, and finding no discrepancy with the aforementioned report, we hereby submit this notification.
