The three lower-ranking tōkyō (shrine offering bearers) advanced as at the beginning, and then all the sacred offerings (shinku) in the inner sanctuary (naijin) were removed. Next, following the order of the sweeping ritual, the sacred broom and cleaning cloths were brought forward, and one御台盤 (offering table stand) was brought out from the inner sanctuary; when the cleaning of the inner sanctuary was complete, the sacred broom and cleaning cloths were brought out to the outer sanctuary (gejin). At that time, the two senior tōkyō cleaned the sacred door and the great platform area (ōdoko), and wiped and swept everything down to the doi (earthen platform area). The sacred broom and cleaning cloths were placed in a convenient location by the lower-ranking tōkyō. Then the offering table stand was advanced, and each tōkyō returned to their seat. The two officials (negi) then came out from the inner sanctuary and, at the doi, recited the cleaning purification prayers (norito); when they clapped their hands, the assembled responded as usual. Then the negi returned to their seat, and the hafuri advanced and closed the sacred door, with everyone moving from their positions and prostrating themselves. At that time, one of the senior tōkyō, Chōken, advanced and presented the sacred lock wrapping (misasarazutsumi) to the hafuri. At this point, the hafuri passed the sacred key to the tōkyō Chōken, who received it, returned to his seat, went back to the worship hall (haiden), returned it to the miko (shrine maiden), and then took his seat. Then the hafuri returned to his seat, and everyone withdrew, with bowing and salutations performed as usual. The daikan (deputy officials) passed in front of the Fudōdō Hall as before, entered through the east entrance of the duty station, changed their attire, and rested. The shrine chief (kannagi/shrine master) and both officials withdrew to the Mikoya (shrine maiden's quarters). Today, five or six musicians attended and played music throughout, as was customary. The daikan party descended the mountain directly and returned home, and at Keisen's residence, they gave two laborers eight gō each of rice as a stipend for their carrying work.
**2nd day (Hinoe-Tora), Fine weather.** Following the arrangements made the previous day, the dosage-rice (ryōmai) of two shō each was sent via Keisen's messenger to those involved in the ceremony management—Rei, Sei, Tsū, Kō, Ken, and others.
**12th Month (long month)**
**7th day (Kanoto-Ushi), Cloudy.** Regarding the right tatami allocation for Kibune Shrine, due to the current year's austerity measures, it was reduced by half to two shō, and was sent today by a messenger from the shrine staff (shokuchū).
**22nd day (Hinoe-Tatsu), Fine weather.** Today, the Shinmiya hafuri (shrine priest), Hida-no-Kami Isaho, resigned and passed away, leaving the position vacant (kessoku). Furthermore, among the current daikan officials, Yasuyuki and Yasumasa are in mourning for twenty and ninety days respectively on account of this. Therefore, today I visited Yasuteru's residence to discuss: regarding this vacancy, if there is no imperial appointment (senka) of a new priest before the upcoming small festival (shōsai) on the 29th, then concerning the matter of the daikan officials performing their duties in place of the vacancy—
