The five participants in the consultation (語合) along with Keisen and others, accompanied by one attendant (wearing hakama) carrying the necessary equipment, proceeded to the government office (庁屋). First, two barrels per district were sent to be collected from the sake storehouse (酒殿). Note that for today and tomorrow, since the district officials (代官) Yasuyuki and Yasumasa were absent due to illness or other reasons, former district officials Yasukoki and Yasusato were attending in their place. This arrangement had been communicated by the former district officials on the 7th. Accordingly, the order of precedence for the御棚 assembly was as follows:
[Note] Order of precedence: Kawakamigō district – Senior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade – Yasuteru (attending as representative: Haruaki); Ōmiyagō district – Senior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade – Yasukoki; Oyamagō district – Senior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade – Keisen; Nakamuragō district – Senior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade – Suenori; Okamotogō district – Junior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade – Yasusato. Each brought two copies of the district head's register (真名 and 仮名 versions), which were laid open on the upturned lids. At that time, Kawanomago-ichi, a minor official of the Oyamagō district, brought twelve bamboo poles for the baskets, which were received (with instructions that each district's officiating shrine attendants should receive them and have any defective ones replaced). Next, the目代 (deputy official) sent notice through the consultation participants, whereupon the district officials, their associates, the district representatives, and the納所方 (accounts office representatives) all proceeded to the sake storehouse for the celebration. At the sake storehouse, seating was arranged without regard to rank; each person sat in the long hall (長床) in order of arrival, and food mats were laid out. Two pieces of mochi with red bean sauce on a ceramic dish were served for each person, with shrine attendants (神人) serving informally.
(Small ceramic dish for the side serving, with a tall arrangement of stems)
Each took turns going forward, and when the collective celebration concluded and the district (郷方) and administrative (内証方) representatives had taken their seats, the district officials were asked whether they had all gathered, and they replied that they had. The district officials then each split their bamboo poles. At this moment, the田所衆 (land administration officials) opened the lids of the boxes and erected the "Taguchi-bi no Yū Goryō" (evening ritual offerings). When one basket per district was completed for all five districts, they were raised onto the御棚 (sacred shelf) in order from the Kawakami district. At this point, the fasting head person (精進頭人) of each respective district arrived, and one bamboo tube (tied with wisteria cord) and two bow-bamboo poles were presented. This was the same for each district. When the head persons of other districts, the田所衆, the内証方, and the district officials and their consultation associates came to celebrate with the bow-bamboo, two bow-bamboo poles each were presented. Once all the baskets were completed, six baskets were tied together on a bamboo pole hung with a lantern; paper labels identifying each of the five districts were attached, and these were propped up in order from north along the west wooden fence. The two protective screens (擋) were then returned to the sake storehouse, the remaining bamboo poles were taken back to the official residence, and everyone dispersed.
14th Day (Tsuchinoe-Tora, i.e., the Day of the Tiger): Clear weather. The御結鎮銭 (settlement ritual money) for the absent-post district official and the district deity (氏神) celebrant portion — comprising two and a half tan [of cloth] and 200 mon — was transferred today from the目代 to Yasuteru's side. It was delivered in the form of coinage (鳥目).
[Marginal note above lines 5–7:]
(Note: On the upper portion of the cutting board were the Kawakami and Ōmiya districts — two districts; on the lower portion were the Oyama, Nakamura, and Okamoto districts — three districts.)
