夾竹桃（キョウチクトウ）
六月土用前より花が開き、七八月まで咲く。花の形は八重桃のようで、また外側には海棠花のような赤い台座があり、その下に青い本台座がある。花の色は薄紅色で白い斑入りがあり、花弁の中心に白い切れ込みがある。蕊の中心に三筋、木綿糸をむしったようなものがある。また葉は女竹のように細長く、艶があり厚いことはユズリハのようである。葉は三方向につき、枝も三方向に出す。木の節立ちは竹のように節が葉ごとにあり、花の節立ちはトウギリのようである。木の高さは大小があり、大きいものは六七尺余り、小さいものは四五寸でも花を咲かせる。

金桜子（キンオウシ）《三四月に花咲く》
叢生薔薇に類似し、針がある。四五月に白い花を開く。大きさは二三寸、色は純白で蕊は長く同色の白である。

匂いは黄色っぽく多く、香りがとても高い花である。花の形は芍薬のような一重である。葉は三葉で少し長く艶がある。花の台座、葉の茎、木ともに針があり、台座と葉の茎の針は毛虫のように、木の針は繁くこれをもって垣根を作る。また一名をシダレイバラともいう。

釣鐘草（ツリガネソウ）
ホウチャク草に似て花は下向きに咲く。花の色は薄紫で、葉はビイドロトラノオに似ている。葉に艶があり茎に節がある。長さ三尺ばかり。五六月に花がある。本名は沙参。崖壁の間に生える。

花忍（ハナシノブ）
葉は草藤に似ている。花の節立ちは八代草に似て伸び、花の形は桔梗のようで色は薄紫、また白もある。丈は二三尺ばかり。花は五月中旬にある。

Oleander (Kyōchikutō)
Flowers bloom from before the summer "dog days" in June and continue blooming until July and August. The flower shape resembles double peach blossoms, and on the outside there is a red pedestal like crabapple flowers, with a blue base pedestal below that. The flower color is light crimson with white variegation, and there are white serrations in the center of the petals. In the center of the stamens are three streaks like plucked cotton thread. The leaves are slender like female bamboo, glossy and thick like Daphniphyllum leaves. Leaves grow in three directions, and branches also extend in three directions. The wood's node structure has nodes at each leaf like bamboo, and the flower's node structure resembles Paulownia. The tree height varies in size - large ones reach six to seven feet or more, while small ones of four to five inches still produce flowers.

Golden Cherry (Kin'ōshi) 《Flowers bloom in March-April》
Similar to clustered roses and has thorns. Opens white flowers in April and May. Size is two to three inches, color is pure white with long stamens of the same white color.

The fragrance is yellowish and abundant, a flower with very strong scent. The flower shape is single like peony. The leaves are trifoliate, slightly long with gloss. The flower pedestal, leaf stems, and wood all have thorns - the pedestal and leaf stem thorns are like caterpillars, while the wood's thorns are dense and used to make hedges. Also called Shidare-ibara (Weeping Rose).

Bellflower (Tsuriganesō)
Resembles Adenophora and flowers hang downward. Flower color is light purple, and leaves resemble Veronica. Leaves are glossy with nodes on the stem. Length about three feet. Has flowers in May and June. True name is Adenophora. Grows between cliff walls.

Phlox (Hanashinobu)
Leaves resemble wild wisteria. The flower's growth pattern resembles Yatsushiro grass and extends upward. Flower shape is like balloon flower, color is light purple, and white varieties also exist. Height is about two to three feet. Flowers appear in mid-May.
