花の形も菊の花のようで、色は本来黄色である。
葉の形は益母草（ヤクモソウ）に似ていて厚く大きな葉である。茎に
紫色の斑点がある。根元は紫色である。また半夏草とも呼ぶ。

撫子（ナデシコ）《割書：六月花》
花は一重で色は白に紅絞り、横切れが深いものを
小町撫子という。また地白で切れが深く中輪を白
糸という。花が白一重・八重・紅絞りを駒片という。

靫草（ウツボグサ）
《割書：五月花》
花の形が靫のようである。葉より立ち伸びて
咲く花に白・紫・薄色の三品種がある。

宝鐸草（ホウチャクソウ）
《割書：また白釣鐘草という》
葉は八代草に似ているが葉先が尖り、茎に赤みがある。
花の形は小さな袋のようである。紅・白の二種がある。萕苨（セイネイ）
という別名もある。花は釣鐘草より長く大きい。五月に花が咲く。

蕙蘭（ケイラン）《割書：花六七月》
九節蘭（キュウセツラン）
《割書：節が九つあるのでいう》
花の形は蜂のようで、上品な鬱金色でツヤと光沢が
ある。花茎が三、四本立ち、その一本に六、七輪ずつ
咲く。香りがとても高い。古歌に「山蜂の姿に

花の咲き出でて匂いやと遠く人を追う蘭」葉に変わり散り、
虎斑があり筋入りがあり、縁白がある。また鳳茶（ホウサ）というのは花の形は
変わらず、葉の丈が長く葉先が四方へ乱れ、ツヤと光沢がある。描かれる
鳳凰の尾の形に似ている。また寒蘭というのがある。鳳蘭に似て葉に
ツヤと光沢があり小葉である。丈が短く冬になり寒さを侵して
花が咲く。花は小さく黒っぽくなる。

八代草（ヤツシロソウ）
《割書：六七月花》
花の形は桔梗のようで色は桔梗・紅・紫がちで、葉
の間に咲く花は一箇所に咲く。葉は踊り草に似ている。

万花草（マンカソウ）《割書：花六七月白有長尺余り》
花の形は桐の花に似て平たく、蕊が長く伸びて
六筋ある。色は薄紫。花の茎の立ち方は桐の花のように小さく、下より
段々に咲き上る。葉は柾木に似て丸く、葉の周りに
白い縁がある。草の立ち方は柾木に似て葉が向かい合う。

黄芩草（オウゴンソウ）
《割書：六月中花》
花の形は靫草に似て長く、色は薄桔梗色で靫
草のようである。葉は向かい合って出て、溝蕎麦のようである。丈一尺余り。山谷に生える。

shape of a phoenix's tail. There is also what is called kanran. Similar to hōran with glossy
leaves that are small. Short in stature, and in winter, enduring the cold,
flowers bloom. The flowers are small and become blackish.

Yatsushiro Grass (Yatsushirosō)

blooming between them, flowers blooming in one place. The leaves resemble dancing grass.

The flower shape resembles paulownia flowers, being flat with long stamens extending
with six streaks. The color is light purple. The flower stem stands like paulownia flowers, small, blooming
gradually upward from below. The leaves resemble masaki, being round with

Skullcap (Ōgonsō)

The flower shape resembles self-heal but longer, with light bellflower color like self-
heal. The leaves emerge facing each other, like ditch buckwheat. Height over one shaku. Grows in mountain valleys.
