敷新儀之望也惣シテ神主被成着座事ハ如何有

当年神主と階下勝負決定の事について論争があり、去る三日の晩、評議所において立合いがあり、披露することが数多あった。第一は競馬勝負の事は神主より究められるべき事で、神主が直接披露するということ。その時一座の評席、新補評定は閉口無言であった。氏侍がこれを聞いて言うには、「これは珍しい新儀の望みである。総じて神主が着座されることはいかがなものか、御存じのことと思う。その子細を承りたい」と言った。無言であったが、氏侍が言うには、「さて着座は勝負決定の使いである。但し御神幸の供奉である」と尋ねられた。

This year there was a dispute regarding the determination of victory and defeat between the head priest and lower-ranking officials. On the evening of the 3rd, there was a confrontation at the council chamber with many matters disclosed. The first point was that matters of horse racing victories and defeats should be determined by the head priest, with the head priest making direct announcements. At that time, the assembled council members and newly appointed judges remained silent and speechless. Upon hearing this, Ujizamurai said, "This is a rare and novel request. Generally speaking, how do you understand the matter of the head priest taking a seat?" He requested to hear the details. Though there was silence, Ujizamurai said, "Well then, the seating is for the messenger who determines victory and defeat. However, it is also for the attendants of the divine procession," and thus inquired.
