然上ハ於庁屋祝義之時両階下之三方可被止之旨
被申出也旹季通云此義ハ自先年有其沙汰而於
御公儀決定致事又只今不謂望事ト被申了
其外新補之社司歴々評定衆兎角無評義不被
申事沙汰之限之仁体也ト社家老若之風説也
序評云先当年ハ御造営方々以珍重之時節也
当年ハ以料簡自着座可有沙汰也以後弥被
成吟味可然ト定則左之階下作顕江右之段以
役者為使当年ハ自着座勝負之決定ノ沙汰可
有之間左様ニ可被心得之旨従立合之使也旹作顕
返言云是ハ珍敷新儀之沙汰也三百年已来左様
ノ例有 敷（間歟）布也只可其例始ヲ作顕仕事不寄存
候間左様ニ不法定リ候者作顕者階下仕間敷トノ
返答云々尤至極ノ返言也旹代官衆并乗尻衆
度々之付届雖有之終ニ不決定故四日之晩ヨリ
五日之朝迄大穿鑿也代官衆之内 保別（四番左）清喜（二々右）両
人ハ五日乗尻故内蔵権助保方玄蕃助氏行両人
代官衆故神主ト申合左兵衛督保光ヲ頼也保方
ハ雑掌氏行ハ沙汰人故神主之下ニ付如此所行

神主は兎角の返答なし。然らば勝負の沙汰をいたすべからずである。

然る上は庁屋での祝義の時、両階下の三方を止めるべき旨を申し出た。その時季通が言うには「この義は先年より其の沙汰があって、御公儀において決定いたした事であり、また只今申すべき望み事ではない」と申した。
その外、新補の社司歴々評定衆は兎角評義なく申されない事、沙汰の限りの人体であると社家老若の風説である。
序評に言うには「先ず当年は御造営方々以て珍重の時節である。当年は料簡を以て着座より沙汰があるべきである。以後いよいよ吟味を成されるべきである」と。
定則左の階下作顕へ右の段、役者を使いと為し「当年は着座より勝負の決定の沙汰があるべき間、左様に心得らるべき」旨を立合いの使いより申した。その時作顕が返言するには「これは珍しい新儀の沙汰である。三百年已来左様の例はあるまじき事である。只その例始を作顕が仕る事、存じ寄らず候間、左様に法定まり候者、作顕は階下を仕るまじき」との返答という。尤も至極の返言である。
その時代官衆並びに乗尻衆、度々の付届これありといえども、終に決定せず。故に四日の晩より五日の朝まで大穿鑿である。代官衆の内、保別（四番左）清喜（二番右）両人は五日乗尻の故、内蔵権助保方、玄蕃助氏行両人が代官衆となった。故に神主と申し合わせ左兵衛督保光を頼んだ。保方は雑掌、氏行は沙汰人の故、神主の下に付き、此の如き所行となった。

Furthermore, the newly appointed shrine officials and various council members offered no opinions and said nothing - this is said to be the extent of their character according to rumors among the senior and junior shrine families.
In preliminary discussion, it was said: "First, this year is a precious time for various reconstruction projects. This year, there should be deliberation starting from the seating arrangement based on careful consideration. Hereafter, examination should be conducted even more thoroughly."
Following established rules, to Sakuaki of the left lower rank, through an official messenger: "This year there will be deliberation on determining victory and defeat starting from the seating arrangement, so please understand it as such" - this was conveyed through the messenger from the confrontation. At that time, Sakuaki replied: "This is a rare and novel deliberation. For three hundred years, there has been no such precedent. I have no knowledge of Sakuaki creating such a precedent, and if such a law is established, Sakuaki will not serve as a lower-ranking official." This was indeed a most reasonable response.
At that time, despite repeated attempts at resolution by the deputy officials and riders, no decision was reached. Therefore, there was extensive investigation from the evening of the 4th until the morning of the 5th. Among the deputy officials, Yasubetsu (fourth race, left) and Seiki (second race, right) were both riders on the 5th, so Kuranogonjō Yasukata and Genbanojō Ujiyuki became the deputy officials. Therefore, consulting with the head priest, they relied on Sahyōe-no-kami Yasumitsu. Since Yasukata was a deputy administrator and Ujiyuki was a deliberation official, they aligned under the head priest, resulting in such proceedings.
