なお、時折は書状をもってでも
ご挨拶申し上げるべきでございますが、
ご多忙中いかがかと遠慮し、
ご無沙汰のまま過ごしてしまい申し訳ございません。以上
一筆申し上げます。まず
将軍様がますますご機嫌よくお過ごしになられていることを
恐れ多く存じます。次に、あなた様も
いよいよご堅固でいらっしゃいますでしょうか、お聞きしたく
存じます。先頃、本多下野守が
そちらへ参りました際に、私の
噂をお話しになったとのこと、詳しく
申してきました。お心にかけてくださりお尋ねいただき恐縮に存じます。
変わらず勤めておりますので、ご安心
お思いくださいませ。ついては毎年
献上いたします鯛子塩辛を先日
差し上げました。その残りをご覧に入れます。

in robust health, which I would like to hear confirmed.
Recently, when Honda Shimotsuke-no-kami
visited your domain, he mentioned
my name in conversation, as he reported to me in detail.
I am grateful that you kept me in mind and inquired about me.
I continue to serve without change, so please
be at ease regarding my situation. Additionally, as for the
salted sea bream roe that I献上
献上 annually, I recently
sent some. I am presenting the remainder for your inspection.
