小梁川平蔵に而手前幕之紋之巴貰被申
度旨然望に付延享四年十一月十九日
同苗之儀故左巴之紋遣候手前紋は
右巴に在之候故左巴を遣永々為見合留置候
者也

　　紋遣使には一返之者に而用人役勤候に付
　　白岩新左衛門使者に遣候事

現代語訳

小梁川平蔵より、自家（手前）の幕の紋である巴紋を譲り受けたいとの強い希望があった。これを受けて、延享四年十一月十九日に、同じ苗字（梁川）の者であるため、左巴の紋を与えることとした。自家（手前）の紋は右巴であるため、左巴を与え、永く互いの紋を見分けられるよう、その旨をここに留め置くものである。

　　紋を伝えるための使者については、一貫して（この家に）仕えている者で、用人役を勤めている者であることから、白岩新左衛門を使者として遣わした件。

英語訳

Kobayakawa Heizō expressed a strong desire to receive the tomoe crest used on our (household's) curtains. In response, on the 19th day of the 11th month of Enkyō 4, since he bears the same family name (Yanagawa), the left-facing tomoe crest was granted to him. As our household's crest is the right-facing tomoe, the left-facing tomoe was given to him so that the two crests may be distinguished from one another in perpetuity. This is hereby recorded and retained.

　　Regarding the messenger dispatched to convey the crest: as the individual has served this household continuously and holds the position of yōnin-yaku (chief administrator/aide), Shiraiva Shinzaemon was sent as the messenger in this matter.
