道中各所の被害はとても書き尽くせないほどであった。このような大騒ぎのさなかにも、誠にありがたい御上（おかみ）のご慈悲により、各所に設けられた御救い小屋において、怪我をした人々や、老人、あるいは日雇い稼ぎができなくなった者たちへ、施行（せきよう）・手当て・救援米を身分に応じて分け与えてくださった。四海（しかい）の浪風もようやく収まれば、人々は安堵の思いを抱き、仮普請（かりぶしん）に取り掛かるのであった。

The damage throughout the various post-stations along the roads was beyond all description. Yet even in the midst of such great turmoil, through the truly merciful benevolence of the authorities, relief shelters were erected in various locations. To those who had been injured, to the elderly, and to those who could no longer earn their daily wages, provisions of charitable relief, medical treatment, and emergency rice rations were distributed according to each person's circumstances. As the stormy waves of turmoil across the four seas gradually subsided, the people's hearts were set at ease, and they began to take up the work of temporary reconstruction.
