現代語訳

『和漢三才図会』芳草類に曰く
　　　春蘭（ホクリ）　　俗に云う　ほくり
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　【雑草】

群書に曰く
　　　報春先（シュンラン）
　　　　　また春蘭（地錦抄）

　　　私が言うには
　　　　『大和本草』にハクリを載せる。これは山草で
　　　　幽蘭に似て葉に溝があり三角なるが如し
　　　　花も幽蘭に似て微香あり。されば曲亭の
　　　　『歳時記』春之部に春蘭花ありハクリ
　　　　と訓ず。『本草』のハクリが春蘭なること
　　　　知るべし。解説よく合えり

英語訳

The "Wakan Sansai Zue" (Illustrated Sino-Japanese Encyclopedia), Fragrant Herbs section, states:
　　　Spring orchid (Hokuri)　　Commonly called　hokuri
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　【Miscellaneous Grass】

Various books state:
　　　Herald of spring (Shunran)
　　　　　Also spring orchid (from Chikinsho)

　　　I say:
　　　　The "Yamato Honzō" records Hakuri. This is a mountain grass
　　　　resembling the secluded orchid with grooved leaves that appear triangular
　　　　The flowers also resemble the secluded orchid and have a subtle fragrance. Therefore, Kyōtei's
　　　　"Saijiki" (Seasonal Records), Spring section, contains spring orchid flowers and reads them as
　　　　Hakuri. One should know that the Hakuri in "Honzō" is the spring orchid.
　　　　The explanations correspond well.
