現代語訳

苧手巻（オダマキ）草

　　　　　　別に紅黒花の者有り、外種なり　紅絲繰草（ベニオダマキ）

　　　(Odamaki)　Both are common names
　　　　　　　　The proper name is unknown

　　　　　Its flowers have no surrounding (medari) angles, in the shape of a reel (waku)
　　　　　(I say) Because it refers to the tool for reeling thread, it is called
　　　　　thread-reeling grass
