引痘（うゑぼうさう）の諸事／素人（しらうと）一己（いつこ）の臆断（りやうけん）に任（まか）し又は引痘を行（おこな）
はぬ医（ゐしや）の指揮（さしづ）を守（まも）りて謬（しそこなふ）こと多（おほ）きを以て此（こゝ）に始（し）

種痘のあらゆることについて、素人が一人だけの推測に任せたり、また種痘を行わない医師の指示に従って失敗することが多いので、ここに始めから終わりまでの心得を挙げて、完全に安全を保つ方法を教える。種痘を自分の子に行おうと思う人は、必ずこの書を読んで、他のことに心を惑わされてはならない。

Regarding all matters of variolation, laypeople often make mistakes by relying on their own solitary judgment or by following the instructions of physicians who do not practice variolation.
