季夏三日の一封を薩摩守より伝達され開緘した。去年使者具志州が来朝し、大君幕下を拝し奉り、暇を賜って還国する時、足下がその恩賜を拝し感載の余り、使者兼城を薩州に遣わして謝し奉った。また我らが足下に贈った物並びに具志州に施した物についても謝辞を述べられた。そして土宜数品を寄せられ、目録の如く検納した。殊方修途にその丁寧な心は歓を傾けるべきである。その他は薩摩守の述べるところに依る。恐々不宣

I received and opened the letter of the third day of late summer transmitted through the Lord of Satsuma. Last year the envoy Gushishū came to court, reverently met His Lordship under the shogunal authority, and when he was granted leave to return to his country, you received those imperial gifts with deep gratitude and sent the envoy Kaneshiro to Satsuma Province to express thanks. Moreover, you also expressed words of gratitude for the items we presented to you and those bestowed upon Gushishū. You sent various local products, which I have examined and received according to the catalog. From such a distant land and long journey, your sincere heart should inspire great joy. For other matters, I rely on what the Lord of Satsuma has stated. With fear and reverence, I leave this unsaid.
