御縁に籠に入れて、金鶏一羽、変わり雛一羽、斑雀一羽、斑変わり鴨一羽、同じく鸒一羽、えなが柄杓一羽、変わり雉子二羽、縁一羽、島雉子二羽。御能が過ぎて放して御覧になった。
一 延宝八年(申年)正月、薩摩国鹿児島で大火があり、三千五百軒が焼失した。
○同年四月二十一日、御城において虎屋永閑が操る梵天国六段を上覧された。
○同年、水戸様のお手元で御仕立てになった御書物を御差し上げ申し上げた。公卿補任欠一冊、一代要記十冊、扶桑拾葉集三十三冊。
○同年五月六日、館林宰相様の御養君となった。
○同年四月、大久保加賀守殿が二の丸において御茶を差し上げ、御座敷の各所の装飾は言語に及ばないほどであった。
その中の珍器の分を少々記す。大絵鑑源氏物語(雅楽筆)、軸物(絵は土佐、詞書は為家卿)、三幅対(中は神農、両脇は草花、古法眼作)、手鑑押絵(雪舟作)、大絵鑑(酒呑童子、雅楽筆)、軸物(伏見常盤、土佐筆)、手鏡百将伝(狩野主膳作)、東山殿面箱(千寿面入り)、手鑑詩(朝鮮人筆)。
掛物(俊成・定家・堯孝の像、土佐筆、兼良讃)、同じく(蘭渓自画自讃)、同じく(高瀬寺縁起、土佐筆)、同じく(牧笛、夏珪筆)、同じく(踊布袋、周文筆)、三幅対(二十四孝、古法眼作、召し上げられた)、屏風片老せぬ(金園筆、召し上げられた)、耕作一双(古法眼作、召し上げられた)、一双竹林七賢(主馬筆、召し上げられた)、一双乗馬画(勝田陽渓筆、召し上げられた)、歌仙(歌は三藐院、絵は興笑)、青鸞一番、白鷺鳥一羽、これらが差し上げられた。
○同年五月八日、将軍家が薨去され、奉号は巌有院殿、上野に奉葬された。同十四日、上野へ入られて御法事が行われた。奉行は大久保加賀守殿、板倉石見守殿、松平山城守殿、大岡五左衛門殿。御導師は毘沙門堂御門跡。○同年八月、将軍宣下があった。
○同年六月二十七日(御法事本堂御番は内藤和泉守殿、永井信濃守殿)、御法事の節に増上寺において喧嘩があり、和泉守殿が永井信濃守殿を切り殺した。初太刀で深手を負わせ即死させた。遠山主殿殿が和泉守殿を抱き留めた。その節、永井伊賀守殿が小刀を抜いて向かった。土屋相模守殿、三浦志摩守殿が押し留め、段々と申されたので、伊賀守も承知して静まったという。和泉守殿は

In cages on the veranda: one golden rooster, one unusual chick, one spotted sparrow, one spotted variant duck, one cormorant of the same type, one long-tailed tit, two variant pheasants, one regular pheasant, and two island pheasants. After the Noh performance ended, they were released for viewing.
1. In the first month of Enpō 8 (Year of the Monkey, 1680), there was a great fire in Kagoshima in Satsuma Province, and 3,500 houses were destroyed.
○ On the 21st day of the 4th month of the same year, at the castle, Toraya Eikan's puppet performance of "Bonten-koku" in six acts was viewed by the shogun.
○ In the same year, books prepared by Lord Mito were presented: one volume of "Kuge Bunin Ketsu," ten volumes of "Ichidai Yōki," and thirty-three volumes of "Fusō Jūyōshū."
○ On the 6th day of the 5th month of the same year, [someone] became the adopted heir of Lord Tatebayashi Saishō.
○ In the 4th month of the same year, Lord Ōkubo Kaga-no-kami served tea at Ninomaru, and the decorations throughout the reception rooms were beyond description.
Among these, I record some of the rare vessels: Large picture scroll of the Tale of Genji (by Gagaku), hanging scroll (painting by Tosa school, calligraphy by Lord Tamie), three-piece set (center: Shennong, sides: flowers and plants, by old Hōgen), hand mirror with pressed pictures (by Sesshū), large picture scroll (Shuten-dōji, by Gagaku), hanging scroll (Fushimi Tokiwa, by Tosa school), hand mirror of one hundred generals (by Kanō Shuzen), Higashiyama-dono mask box (containing Senju masks), hand mirror with poetry (by a Korean artist).
Hanging scrolls: portraits of Shunzei, Teika, and Gyōkō (by Tosa school, with eulogy by Kanera); Lanxi's self-portrait with self-inscription; origin story of Kōseji Temple (by Tosa school); "Shepherd's Flute" (by Xia Gui); "Dancing Hotei" (by Shūbun); three-piece set of Twenty-four Examples of Filial Piety (by old Hōgen, summoned by the shogun); single-panel screen "Ageless" (by Kin'en, summoned by the shogun); pair of farming scenes (by old Hōgen, summoned by the shogun); pair depicting Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove (by Shume, summoned by the shogun); pair of equestrian paintings (by Katsuda Yōkei, summoned by the shogun); poetry immortals (poetry by Sanmyaku-in, pictures by Kyōshō); one blue phoenix; one egret - these were presented.
○ On the 8th day of the 5th month of the same year, the shogun passed away. His posthumous title was Gan'yū-in-den, and he was interred at Ueno. On the 14th of the same month, he was laid to rest at Ueno and memorial services were held. The administrators were Lords Ōkubo Kaga-no-kami, Itakura Iwami-no-kami, Matsudaira Yamashiro-no-kami, and Ōoka Gozaemon. The chief priest was the imperial prince of Bishamondō. ○ In the 8th month of the same year, the shogunal appointment was made.
○ On the 27th day of the 6th month of the same year (the guards for the main hall memorial service were Lords Naitō Izumi-no-kami and Nagai Shinano-no-kami), during the memorial service at Zōjōji Temple, there was a quarrel and Lord Izumi-no-kami killed Lord Nagai Shinano-no-kami. With the first strike, he inflicted a deep wound causing immediate death. Lord Tōyama Tonomo-no-kami restrained Lord Izumi-no-kami. At that moment, Lord Nagai Iga-no-kami drew his short sword and confronted him. Lords Tsuchiya Sagami-no-kami and Miura Shima-no-kami held him back, and after repeated entreaties, Lord Iga-no-kami acknowledged and calmed down. Lord Izumi-no-kami...
