即日青松寺において切腹を仰せ付けられた(ある説では増上寺の宿坊で切腹したという)。 検使は渡部大隅守殿、能勢惣十郎殿。(丹後宮津の永井信濃守殿、志摩国鳥羽の内藤和泉守殿) ○同年(壬年)八月六日、諸国で大風雨洪水があり、江戸でも大風雨となった。御城の御破損が多く、瓦などが所々で落ちた。下町の鉄砲洲本庄屋敷へ水が押し上げ、場所によっては床上六、七尺まで水が来て、本庄で死人もあったという。江戸中の長屋や塀が吹き倒され、大分な被害であった。 ○同年八月十九日、後水尾院が崩御された(壬年)。八月八日に泉涌寺で御送葬、十日から十六日まで御法事が行われた。日光御門主様からの御願いで御赦免となった者たち: 藤堂和泉守殿御預かりの京極近江守殿(丹後守殿の惣領、御国安堵)、伊達遠江守殿御預かりの寺嶋権之介殿(同人の子、同様)、松平相模守殿御預かりの落合杢之助殿(同人の子、同様)、酒井九衛門尉殿御預かりの高力伊与守殿(左近殿の惣領、同様)、召し出された新見平右衛門殿(久野目代市右衛門の子)、真田伊豆守殿御預かりの同右衛門殿(同人の子)、松平三郎殿御預かりの宮崎弁之介殿(三左衛門殿の子)、飛鳥井藤若殿(松平出羽守殿御預かり、隠岐島への流罪御免)。 その外、町人百姓三十八人の御赦免があり、流罪・追放等からであった。 一 延宝九年(酉年)五月に仰せ出された趣旨の覚 一 小普請役を勤める五十歳より内は乗物を断ち、今後罷り成らざること 一 当病で御奉公が勤まらず養生の内は乗物を断ち、今後誓紙をもって御免とすべきこと 一 勤めながら乗物を断つ月切りは誓紙をもって御免とすべきこと 一 御直参といえども軽い奉公人は乗物無用とすべし。よんどころない事情がある場合は御老中並びに松平稲葉守、石川美作守へ申し達し、差図を受けるべきこと 一 猿楽は五十歳以上であろうとも駕籠とすべきこと 一 御三家方甲府殿の家来の乗物断は老中へ達し、その上で誓紙をもって御免とすべきこと 一 諸家中五十歳以上の乗物断は主人より状を取り、その身として誓紙を致し御免とすべきこと 一 諸家中五十歳より内の者の病気による断は申し上げるべからず候。ただし勤めながらの断は老中に

That very day, he was ordered to commit seppuku at Seishōji Temple (according to one account, he committed seppuku at a lodging temple of Zōjōji). The inspectors were Lord Watanabe Ōsumi-no-kami and Lord Nose Sōjūrō. (Lord Nagai Shinano-no-kami of Miyazu in Tango Province, Lord Naitō Izumi-no-kami of Toba in Shima Province) ○ On the 6th day of the 8th month of the same year (Year of the Water Monkey), there were great windstorms, rain, and floods throughout the provinces, and Edo also experienced severe wind and rain. There was extensive damage to the castle, with roof tiles falling in various places. Water surged into the Honshō estate at Teppōzu in the downtown area, reaching six to seven feet above floor level in some places, and there were reportedly deaths at Honshō. Throughout Edo, many tenement houses and fences were blown down, causing considerable damage. ○ On the 19th day of the 8th month of the same year, Retired Emperor Go-Mizunoo passed away (Year of the Water Monkey). The funeral procession was held at Sennyūji Temple on the 8th day of the 8th month, and memorial services were conducted from the 10th to the 16th. Those who received pardons through the petition of the Head Priest of Nikkō: Lord Kyōgoku Ōmi-no-kami under the custody of Lord Tōdō Izumi-no-kami (eldest son of Lord Tango-no-kami, domain restored), Lord Terashima Gon-no-suke under the custody of Lord Date Tōtōmi-no-kami (his son, same treatment), Lord Ochiai Moku-no-suke under the custody of Lord Matsudaira Sagami-no-kami (his son, same treatment), Lord Kōriki Iyo-no-kami under the custody of Lord Sakai Kuemon-no-jō (eldest son of Lord Sakon, same treatment), Lord Niimi Heiemon who was recalled to service (son of Kunome-dai Ichiemon), Lord [same] Uemon under the custody of Lord Sanada Izu-no-kami (his son), Lord Miyazaki Ben-no-suke under the custody of Lord Matsudaira Saburō (son of Lord Sanzaemon), Lord Asukai Tōwaka (under custody of Lord Matsudaira Dewa-no-kami, exile to Oki Island pardoned). Additionally, thirty-eight townspeople and farmers received pardons from sentences of exile, banishment, and the like. 1. Memorandum of matters announced in the 5th month of Enpō 9 (Year of the Rooster): 1. Those serving in the kobushin-yaku under fifty years of age must refrain from using palanquins, and this shall not be permitted in the future. 1. Those unable to perform official duties due to illness and under medical care must refrain from using palanquins, and future permission shall be granted with a written oath. 1. For those who refrain from palanquins while still in service, monthly permissions shall be granted with written oaths. 1. Even direct retainers with light service duties should not use palanquins. If there are unavoidable circumstances, they must report to the senior councilors and to Matsudaira Inaba-no-kami and Ishikawa Mimasaku-no-kami to receive instructions. 1. Sarugaku performers, even if over fifty years old, should use kago (simple palanquins). 1. For retainers of the Three Branch Houses and Lord Kōfu, requests to refrain from palanquins must be reported to the senior councilors, and permission granted thereafter with written oaths. 1. For retainers of various houses over fifty years old who wish to refrain from palanquins, a letter must be obtained from their lord, and permission granted with their personal written oath. 1. For retainers of various houses under fifty years old, requests due to illness should not be submitted. However, for those refraining while still in service, [report] to the senior councilors...
