深草で昼夜六時の勤行を遂げることは難しいであろうかと、世間並びに檀林へ新参し、年四十にも及んで安心の上では深原山へ隠遁するのも然るべきということで飯高へ遣わされ、長く世僧に罷り成った。しかしただ今思い出すに、病身では深草での勤めを申すことはございません。日孝師が暇になったこと、日潮師は仙台孝勝寺の先住如満師、皆々関東檀林の御筋の御出世僧におなりになった。しかし私は邪心もなく深草へも参らず出世もしなかったが、宗門の大綱を及ばぬまでも勧学し、身延山の御院職にも御召しがあり、紫の袈裟並びに上人号まで下し置かれたので半出世した。説法も八九十年以前、本込寺において一千座説法の開眼法要を成就し、塔婆を相立て申した。以後読経・学文・題目修行をし、臨終を相待ち罷り在る。 当年己年七十五歳、老病に一両日病気が少し発り、文字を相忘れ不束なことどもであるが、念のため御得意にようやく相認めた。以上。 寛延第四辛未霜月十一日昼四つ過ぎに書き始め、夜六つ半に相終わった。定めて清書をして進上申すようにすべきであるが、何様にても自筆が良いであろうと、そのまま進上し、微細は相良甚蔵方へ御頼み申す。彼の仁の祖父常詠翁の御書記を置かれた写本を御覧になって、彦六へ相写しなさるべきである。上中へも申し進める通り、会律の学生が書記した四家合考は殊の外詮議をなさったと相見える。併せて中畠上野介を白河の家来と書いたのは恐らくは誤りである。 一、中畠知行所並びに家来帳の写し(松倉村・須乗村・新屋敷・中村・神田村・古畑村・松崎村・田新田村・明岡村・中ノ目村・堤村・中畑村・三城村・成田村・久来久村・笠石村・矢吹村・大輪久村・踏瀬村・太田川・小田川、確と相覚え申さず) 一、侍帳は大半忘れ致した。三城目・中畠等の百姓には大勢中畠へ家来筋があった。以上、中畠が三城目へ引退した已後、四万石余の分限にあったという。家老・家名などは失念した。侍は須賀川相楽孫左衛門殿家来に雇われ、同心を存じ、治左衛門殿が相楽を名乗られ、只今まで相楽の名字である。三城目にて

I began writing on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of Kan'en 4, year of the metal sheep, past the fourth hour of the day, and finished at half past the sixth hour of the night. I should properly make a clean copy to present, but thinking that my own handwriting would be better in any case, I present it as is. For details, please consult Sagara Jinzō. Please examine the manuscript copy of the writings left by his grandfather, the old man Jōei, and have it copied for Hikuroku.
