大泥亜（たにあ）はヨーロッパの内でポーランドの東にあり、大変寒い国である。最も大きな国で南北に長く、南は地中海に近く、北は極地に近くして、夏の季節は夜が非常に短く昼が非常に長い。冬の季節は夜が甚だ長く昼が甚だ短い。海魚が多く、山林の獣類は諸国に優れ、五穀や宝貨が豊かで、天文・暦象の測定器具はこの国を最上とするということを聞き伝えている。

Dania (Denmark) is located within Europe, to the east of Polonia (Poland), and is a very cold country. It is an extremely large nation, long from north to south, with its southern part near the Mediterranean Sea and its northern part near the polar regions. In summer, the nights are extremely short and the days extremely long. In winter, the nights are very long and the days very short. Marine fish are abundant, and the wild animals of the mountains and forests surpass those of other countries. Grains and precious goods are plentiful, and it is reported that this country excels above all others in astronomical and calendrical measuring instruments.
