現代語訳
桃太郎は夫婦仲良く、実生の桃太郎をもうけた。大丈夫のいたずら者で、真桑瓜が好きで毎日食べていた。お梅はお清が死んでしまったので、何にでも初物を供えていたが、瓜一切れ初物を取れば「鬼が」と子が言ったことから、瓜に限って鬼と言い伝えるようになった。
桃が流れてきて若くなり誕生したのは、山王権現の神使の猿が流したのか、あるいは東方朔の桃なのか。凡夫であるからそれは分からないが、西王母でも落としたのか。
そうして今に若々しく風流に暮らしているのである。

英語訳
Momotaro lived harmoniously with his wife and had a child, also called Momotaro from their own seed. This child was a mischievous but sturdy boy who loved makuwa melons and ate them every day. Since Okiyo had died, Ume offered first fruits of everything as offerings, but whenever she took a slice of melon as a first offering, the child would say "Oni!" From this, the tradition arose of calling melons "oni."
Whether the peach that flowed downstream to restore youth and give birth was sent by the monkey messenger of Sanno Gongen, or was it perhaps a peach of Toho-saku? Being ordinary mortals, we cannot know - perhaps even the Queen Mother of the West dropped it.
And so they continue to live youthfully and elegantly to this day.
