幷妹今刃傷候節兄弥十郎病気ニ付一同居宅
之表之方三畳敷之部屋ニ臥居候処伝内儀寝込ヘ
忍入騒動いたし候上之儀と者乍申一ト間同様
之場所ニ候上両親之手疵数ヶ所ニ有之妹迄も
手疵負候儀ニ而余程猶予も在之儀と相見
既ニ親儀死命ニ至候程之儀ニ候得者跂度處シ
方も可有之候處相手之者打洩候而已ならす
一向無疵ニ而為立退候段甚以年後成儀ニ候兼而心懸
由行と相見不相当候条揚座敷江被入置之旨

不相当であるので、嫡子の地位を剥奪した上で禁足を申し付けられた件

一 寛政七年（卯年）七月五日の夜、大谷傳内が忍び入り、父母並びに妹を刃傷した際、兄の弥十郎は病気のため一緒に居宅の表の方の三畳敷きの部屋に臥せっていたところ、伝内が寝込みへ忍び入って騒動を起こした。上記の件とはいうものの、一間同様の場所にあった上、両親の手傷が数ヶ所にあり、妹まで手傷を負った件で、かなりの猶予もあった件と見受けられる。既に親が死命に至るほどの件であったならば、適切な処し方もあったであろうところ、相手の者を打ち漏らしただけでなく、全く無傷で立ち退かせた段は甚だもって年後（念後）な件である。兼ねてからの心懸けや行いと見受けられ不相当であるので、揚座敷へ入れ置かれた旨

• Kansei 7th year (Year of the Rabbit), 7th month, 5th day, night: When Ōtani Dennai broke in and wounded his parents and younger sister with a blade, his elder brother Yaichirō was ill and lying in a three-tatami room at the front of their shared residence. Dennai snuck into their sleeping quarters and caused a disturbance. Regarding the above matter, though it was in a space equivalent to one room, both parents sustained wounds in several places, and even the younger sister was wounded - there appears to have been considerable time to act. Since it was already a matter where the parents' lives were at stake, there should have been appropriate ways to handle it. However, not only did he fail to strike down the assailant, but he allowed him to retreat completely unharmed, which is an extremely regrettable matter. This appears to reflect his usual mindset and conduct, and being inappropriate, he was confined to the upper sitting room.
