鳳凰（はうわう） 聖人の代に
出る仁鳥也
羽を五しきにいろとるこゑは
しやうのことし祠にすみ竹の
実をくふ《割書：其外さいしきは｜色々いろどる也》

鳳凰（ほうおう） 聖人の時代に
現れる仁徳ある鳥である
羽を五色に色取り、声は
笙のようである。祠に住み竹の
実を食べる《割書：その他の彩色は｜様々に色どるのである》
英語訳
Phoenix (hōō) - A benevolent bird that
appears in the age of sage rulers
Its feathers are colored in five hues, its voice is
like that of the shō (mouth organ). It dwells in shrines and
