The above has been communicated to the burned temples, so please take note accordingly. (The) Fourth Month Item: On the eighteenth day of the fourth month, on the occasion of [the lord's] visit to the capital [Edo], five-colored hōsho paper was presented as a customary gift through a messenger. Item: On the twenty-second day of the same month, a summons was received from the duty senior councillor, Lord Inoue Kawachi-no-kami (Masamine), and the resident deputy [in Edo] Ōseki Shingorōzaemon (Naomi) appeared. He was informed that although it had previously been ordered, from the year before last, that the presentation of cranes, swans, water-chestnuts-eating ducks (hishikui), wild geese, and ducks, as well as gifts (otomonomo), were prohibited, a written order was now issued stating that swans, hishikui, wild geese, and ducks could henceforth be presented again from this winter as both official presentations and gifts, while cranes were still to remain prohibited. Item: On the twenty-fifth day of the same month, it was ordered that henceforth, when domain products are to be presented, the items should be inspected the day before the presentation. Item: On the twenty-sixth day of the same month, the sword Kogitsune-maru, which had been previously inquired about, arrived on the twenty-fifth day, and the resident deputy Miyakita Jūrōzaemon (Sadayoshi) brought it and presented it to Senior Councillor Kuze Yamato-no-kami (Shigeyuki).
