我等余子よりしてはからすも継嗣
となり家督を続事身の幸尠な
からす爰におゐて猶更家中およひ
領内の政務に昼夜心を用ひ家とく
のはん事を希ふといへとも元より届
さる事も有へき歟大法に背さる儀は
曲て宥免を加ふへきなり然とも代々
定置処の令條に障へき不覚悟のもの
有之は其非を糺へし今度改て家法の
条々沙汰に及はさる間寛保二年正月
定置之趣家中一統尚又其承知堅く相守
益謹慎を旨とし水能船をうかへの譬に
ならひ上下和融し忠勤を励へきもの也

現代語訳
私たち末子でありながら思いがけずも跡継ぎとなり、家督を相続することは身の幸いこの上ないことです。ここにおいて、なお一層家中および領内の政務に昼夜心を用い、家徳を発展させることを望んでいますが、もとより行き届かないこともあるでしょう。大法に背かない事柄については、寛大に許免を加えるべきです。しかしながら、代々定め置かれた法令に違反するような不心得者があれば、その非を正すべきです。今度改めて家法の条々について沙汰に及ばないよう、寛保二年正月に定め置いた趣旨を家中一同がなお一層承知し、堅く守り、ますます謹慎を旨とし、水がよく船を浮かべるという譬えに倣い、上下和融して忠勤に励むべきものです。

Although we are a younger son, we have unexpectedly become the heir and succeeded to the headship of the family, which is truly a great fortune. In this position, we wish to devote ourselves day and night even more diligently to the administration of our retainers and domain, hoping to develop the family's virtue. However, there may naturally be matters that fall short of expectations. For matters that do not violate the great laws, lenient pardons should be granted. Nevertheless, if there are those who are thoughtless enough to violate the laws established by generations past, their wrongs must be corrected. So that we need not address matters of family law anew this time, all retainers should further understand and firmly observe the principles established in the first month of Kanpō 2, making prudence their guiding principle even more, and following the analogy that water well supports a boat, they should maintain harmony between high and low ranks and devote themselves to loyal service.
