現代語訳
昆布を下された際に脇差を取り出されたということですが、
御名代は入口で中座し、その場所に扇子を
差し置き、昆布を下された際は帯剣のまま
出席するのが先例であるため、そのように済ませました。念のため
元光院へ一応申し伝えておきました。

一 御奉書を受け取るため参上した旨を御目付へ坊主を通じて申し伝えたところ、
当番御目付の堀田主馬が承知した旨の返答がありました
一 月末の御礼はなく、御暇の衆がおり、不時の御礼がありました。
同席の衆は残らず御錠口が開いてから回られ、自分一人が
席に控えておりました。御礼が済んで帝鑑之間で年寄衆に
拝領物が仰せ渡されました。それから細廊下を通って雁之間へ
通されましたが、菊之間へ退いて控えていると、間もなく御目付成瀬
吉右衛門が寄るように申し聞かされたので、山吹之間入口の鷹鶯の
杉戸向かいの御障子の方に控えていると、御用番伊豆守殿だけが
羽目之間へ出席され、御目付の指図で参上し、日光奉行
への奉書をお渡しいただき受け取りました。奉行執当への御伝言
の趣旨は先格の通りに申し伝えるべきかと伺ったところ、その通り心得て
万事念入りに行うように仰せ聞かされ退座しました。御目付へ御用が
済んだので退出する旨を急いで相談し、奉書は
お城で留守居の者を召し連れていたので渡しました
なお奉書の入った白木箱は留守居の者が持ち出して控えておりました

When the kelp was bestowed, it is said that the short sword was removed,

- Left home after 8 AM, received an official letter (hōsho) and went to the castle 《Attire: silk-lined garment with hemp kamishimo》
- When I reported through a servant to the inspector (metsuke) that I had come to receive the official letter,
the duty inspector Hotta Shume acknowledged this and sent word back
- There was no month-end ceremony, some people were granted leave, and there was an irregular ceremony.
All the colleagues went around after the castle gate opened, while I alone
remained waiting at my seat. After the ceremony ended, gifts were bestowed upon the elders
in the Teikan-no-ma room. Then we passed through the narrow corridor to the Kari-no-ma,
but when I withdrew to wait in the Kiku-no-ma, shortly afterward Inspector Naruse
Kichirōemon told me to come closer, so I waited by the shoji screens
facing the cedar doors with hawk and nightingale designs at the entrance to Yamabuki-no-ma. Only the duty official Lord Izu
appeared in the Haname-no-ma, and following the inspector's instructions, I went forward to receive
the official letter to be delivered to the Nikkō magistrate. When I inquired whether the message
for the magistrate's assistant should be conveyed according to previous precedent,
I was told to understand it as such and to handle everything with great care, then I withdrew. I hurriedly informed the inspector that my business was
complete and I would withdraw. Since I had brought a caretaker from the castle for the official letter, I handed it over to him.
The white wooden box containing the official letter was carried by the caretaker who was waiting.
