現代語訳

御門主の家司等が式台へ出迎えて案内し、一通りの挨拶を行った。刀は預けて上がり着座した。御座敷の縁の通り、御敷居の外に刀を置いて着座の上、執当へ次の趣旨を申し述べた。

「江戸表において、公方様がますます御機嫌よくお過ごしになられている旨、年寄衆からの御伝言がございました」と申し述べ終わり、

「この度、御名代を仰せ付けられ、御宮・御霊屋への自分の拝礼が、伺いの通り済みまして有難く存じます」と申し述べた。先刻到着いたしました旅宿へ御尋ねとして御使者をもって一種を拝受いたし、また明日御料理を下さる旨を仰せ蒙り、かたじけない仕合わせに存じ上げております。

右の通り申し述べた。
（但し、茶・煙草盆が出され、御会いの席を只今のうちに拝見いたしたい旨を頼み、両人同道にて内見し、浄土院が出て取り持ちを行った）

一、御門主が御会いになる旨を執当が申し聞かせたので、刀を預けて御着座の間へ通った。御入側へ差し置き、御着座の間へ通り、御敷居際にて扇子を取り中ほどに座ったところ、御会釈があり、上之間の御敷居内へ入った。

「公方様がますます御機嫌よくお過ごしになられている」と申し上げ、「御門主がますます御安泰でいらっしゃることを、恐れながら珍重の御儀と存じ奉ります」と申し上げた。御門主は昆布を御挟み、帯剣のまま御側へ進んで拝受し、元の席へ退いた。執当へ向かい、「先刻御使者をもって一種を拝受いたし、その上明日御料理を下さる段を仰せ蒙り、また参上いたしましたところ御会いくださり、かたじけない仕合わせに存じ奉ります」と申し述べて退去し、初めの御座敷へ通り、執当・留守居へ挨拶を行い、直ちに帰った。出迎えの通り、皆が送りをしてくれた。

The chief retainers of the gate master came out to the ceremonial entrance to greet and guide me, performing the customary greetings. I surrendered my sword and ascended to take my seat. Following the protocol of the formal reception room, I placed my sword outside the threshold and, after taking my seat, conveyed the following message to the chief administrator:

"At Edo, His Lordship the Shogun continues in excellent health and spirits, as conveyed through a message from the Council of Elders," I concluded, and then stated:

"On this occasion, having been appointed as a representative, my personal worship at the shrine and mausoleum has been completed as requested, for which I am grateful." I reported that I had just arrived at my lodgings where I received a gift through a messenger sent to inquire after me, and was also informed that a meal would be provided tomorrow, for which I am most humbly grateful.

I conveyed the above message.
(Note: Tea and tobacco trays were brought out, and I requested to view the audience chamber at that time, which was arranged with both attendants accompanying me for the inspection, with a Jodo-in priest facilitating)

First, the chief administrator informed me that the gate master would grant an audience, so I surrendered my sword and was led to the formal audience chamber. My sword was set aside in the anteroom, and I proceeded to the audience chamber. At the threshold, I took my fan and sat in the center position, whereupon I received acknowledgment and was invited within the threshold of the upper chamber.

I reported that "His Lordship the Shogun continues in excellent health and spirits," and stated, "I humbly consider it a most auspicious matter that the gate master continues in perfect health." The gate master, carrying kelp as a gift and still wearing his sword, approached and accepted my offerings, then returned to his original seat. Addressing the chief administrator, I said, "Earlier I received a gift through your messenger, and furthermore was informed that a meal will be provided tomorrow. Having come to pay my respects and being granted this audience, I am most humbly grateful," and then withdrew. I returned to the initial reception room, exchanged greetings with the chief administrator and steward, and departed immediately. Everyone provided the same courteous send-off as they had given in welcome.

First, I proceeded to the shrine and dismounted at the stone torii gate below the Nio gate (the entourage remained at this location).
