上意有之平伏御上段を摺り下り壱畳目丈ケ下り右江廻り

退去御廊下ニ而脇差指之西湖之間御縁二御目付

拶直細廊下鴛鴦御杉戸外御障子を後二いたし
着座御目付会釈ニ而羽目之間江罷越拝領物廣
蓋有之前着座平伏いたし御奏者番之方を鳥
渡向拝領物仕難有段御奏者番取合有之又候平

現代語訳
「日光二十日、御名代に仰せ付ける」との上意があり、平伏して御上段を摺り下がり一畳目だけ下がって右へ廻り、御下段御敷居の内二畳目の縁へ手の懸かる位に一畳目へ着座した。御用番の方へ顔のみ向けると「日光への御暇を下し置く。その上拝領物をして有り難き段」との御取り合いがあった。右へ廻り退去し、御廊下にて脇差を指し、西湖之間御縁に御目付が居て「心障りもないか」と尋ねたので「心障りなし」の段を挨拶した。直ちに細廊下鴛鴦御杉戸外御障子を後にして着座し、御目付の会釈にて羽目之間へ罷り越し、拝領物の広蓋がある前に着座して平伏し、御奏者番の方を向いて「拝領物をして有り難き段」を御奏者番が取り合い、また平伏して退去した。
一、御目見前に大目付から達しがあるので、御目見後に控えている旨を坊主衆を以て申し越したにつき控えていた

一、西の丸へ罷り出で、鷹之間にて御奏者番堀大和殿へ謁し御礼申し上げ、それから老若を廻り勤めて五つ半時に帰宅した

一、上野宿坊圓覚院御門主拝謁の執当中から申し来た旨、別紙の通り圓覚院から申し越した

There was an official pronouncement: "You are appointed as Nikko deputy on the twentieth day." I prostrated myself, slid down from the upper platform, descended only to the first tatami and turned right, then seated myself on the first tatami at a position where my hands could reach the edge of the second tatami inside the threshold of the lower platform. Turning my face only toward the duty officer, there was an exchange: "Permission for departure to Nikko is granted. Moreover, you should be grateful for the official gifts." I turned right and withdrew. In the corridor I put on my short sword, and at the Seiko-no-ma veranda an inspector was present and asked "Is there any discomfort?" I replied that there was no discomfort. Immediately I seated myself in the narrow corridor outside the Oshidori cedar doors with the sliding doors behind me, and at the inspector's bow went to the Hame-no-ma room, seated myself in front of where the ceremonial covers for the official gifts were placed, prostrated myself, faced toward the chamberlain, and the chamberlain acknowledged my expression of gratitude for the official gifts. I prostrated myself again and withdrew.
1. Since there was a communication from the chief inspector before the audience, I waited as instructed, having sent word through the Buddhist monks that I would remain in attendance after the audience.
1. The written directive from Chief Inspector Mizuno Tonomo was as follows:

An official document will be delivered,
so please report to the castle
on the 15th day at half past the fifth hour

This written directive was delivered verbally to the caretaker.
1. I also informed Lord Yokose Suruga-no-kami of the high-ranking families about the departure permission and official gifts, sent word through the Buddhist monks, and similarly informed the festival magistrate before withdrawing.
1. I went to the Western Citadel, had an audience with Chamberlain Lord Hori Yamato-no-kami in the Taka-no-ma room to express my gratitude, then made my rounds to the senior and junior officials and returned home at half past the fifth hour.

1. The head priest of Engakuin temple, the lodging temple at Ueno, sent word through the officials in charge of audiences, and Engakuin temple sent the following separate document:
