正月六日の補遺
一、今朝代替わりの五時半から麻上下を着用し、御菩提所への御礼を済ませ、平服となった。夕方御稽古初めの揃いを仰せ出された時から一同麻上下を着用。今晩年を越すけれども、近年の例の通り平服とする。
一、八時揃いで御稽古初めをお行いになった。お召し物は御服紗御上下で、最初は御座の間に御着座された。
高野惣左衛門
参上し御挨拶を申し上げ、その後講談を申し上げて済ませ、御初めを仰せ付けられ有難い旨、御用人が応対された。御家老御城代の息子その他の御相伴は毎度の通り一人ずつ参上し御挨拶を申し上げ、御初めを仰せ付けられ有難い旨、御用人が応対された。

参上し御挨拶を申し上げた。太刀・長刀・槍合わせて都合九本をお遣いになり、御打太刀を市右衛門が相手を務めて済ませ、五ヶ五本を市右衛門が遣い、打太刀を猪子六左衛門が相手を務めて済ませた。応対は同様。今日は表方の御相手が参上せず。引き続き（ただし済んだ際、毎度「休め」という御言葉はなかった）

Supplement to the 6th day of the 1st month
One item: This morning from 5:30, during the changing of duties, wearing hemp formal dress, completed the ceremonial thanks at the family temple, then changed to ordinary clothes. From the time the evening assembly for the first practice session was announced, everyone wore hemp formal dress. Though tonight we pass into the new year, ordinary clothes were worn according to recent custom.
One item: At the 8 o'clock assembly, the first practice session was conducted. His lordship wore formal silk hakama and haori, initially taking his seat in the formal sitting room.
Takano Sōzaemon
Appeared and gave his respects, then delivered a lecture, after which he was graciously granted the first session honor, for which the chamberlain responded with gratitude. The sons of senior councilors and castle deputies, along with other companions, appeared one by one as usual, gave their respects, were granted the first session honor, and the chamberlain responded with gratitude.

Nakamura Ichiemon
Appeared and gave his respects. Used a total of nine weapons - swords, naginata, and spears. Ichiemon served as partner for sword practice, completed it, then Ichiemon performed five sets of five exercises with Inoko Rokuzaemon serving as sword partner, completing the session. Response was the same. Today no official partners appeared. Continuing (however, there were no commands to "rest" given at completion as usual).
