丸御玄関から御乗馬にて御馬場へ入られ、御乗初を三通りばかり地道で召され、
御馬見所へ御上がりになり、直に御駕籠にて山里通り、七時半前御帰殿。ただし
御馬見所において御馬方、御馬医一統、御影熨斗頂戴これ有り候旨

1. 1. New Year's Day: awakening at 6 o'clock, entourage assembled at 6:30, moved to the main castle, in the audience chamber received New Year messengers from various lords, after the three-献 celebration, received formal greetings from senior councilors and middle councilors, and received the customary New Year greetings in various halls, returned to the palace after 7:30.
1. January 2nd: awakening at 6 o'clock, entourage assembled at 6:30, before moving to the main castle, performed the first hawk ceremony of the year in the audience chamber, then in the gun room presented ceremonial gifts to Shimazu Jūdayū and Kishi Gorōzaemon, then immediately moved to the main castle, received New Year greetings in various halls, then from the main castle entrance went on horseback to the riding grounds, performed the first riding of the year about three times on level ground, went up to the horse viewing pavilion, then immediately returned to the palace by palanquin via Yamazato street before 7:30. Note that at the horse viewing pavilion, all the horse attendants and veterinarians received ceremonial gifts.
