△爐へ火を焼薪は煙り薄く／臭（にほ）ひなきを選むべし生木盤
決て焚べからず煙り多し蚕屋裏板あらば爐の上尓

△炉に火を焚く時、薪は煙が薄く匂いのないものを選ぶべきである。生木は決して焚いてはならない。煙が多いからである。蚕室に裏板があれば、炉の上に煙抜きを開き、戸を付けて明け立て自由にすべし。煙が蚕室に籠もれば蚕に害をなす。夜中は炭火を用い、裏板の戸を立てて鼠の害を除くとよい。暖かい国は火を用いずして蚕を養うことができる。寒い国は火を用いなければ暖を助けることが難しい。しかしながら、蚕が飢えて火気を吸い込めば必ず病気を生ずる。藁の中に桑があって、飢えるに及ばせることがないようにせよ。
△蚕の二起まで古い藁だがよい。新しいものは藁に温もりがあって黴を生じ、蚕に害がある。古い藁だをよく干し乾かして用いるべし。もし蚕が成熟するまでに黴が生じたら、速やかに下抜きして別の藁に入れ替えるとよい。燠は乾いてさらさらするのがよい。湿って固まっては必ず黴を生ずる。

△When lighting a fire in the hearth, choose firewood that produces thin smoke with no odor. Never burn green wood, as it produces much smoke. If the silkworm house has back boards, open smoke vents above the hearth, attach doors that can be opened and closed freely. If smoke gets trapped in the silkworm house, it will harm the silkworms. During the night, use charcoal fire and set up the back board doors to prevent mouse damage. In warm countries, silkworms can be raised without using fire. In cold countries, it is difficult to provide sufficient warmth without using fire. However, if hungry silkworms inhale the fire's fumes, they will inevitably develop diseases. Ensure there is mulberry among the straw so that they do not become hungry.
△Until the silkworms' second molting, old straw mats are preferable. New ones retain warmth in the straw and generate mold, which harms the silkworms. Use old straw mats that have been thoroughly dried in the sun. If mold develops before the silkworms reach maturity, quickly remove the bottom layer and transfer them to different straw mats. The embers should be dry and powdery. If they become moist and clump together, they will inevitably produce mold.
